Zinedine Zidane spoke in the press conference after the tie against Sevilla at Sánchez Pizjuán. Los Blancos have qualified to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey after two difficult games against one of the best teams in Spain. The French manager highlighted the great match of the Andalusian team, the insults to Sergio Ramos from Sevilla’s supporters and the expectations for the next clash in La Liga.

Zidane recognized that Sevilla played better in the match and that they had a very difficult game that finally finished with a draw: “The game has been very difficult. Maybe Sevilla deserved more today. We relaxed ourselves when we scored our first goal. They scored us two goals but finally we could tie the match playing in a different way as we usually do. We are a team with personality and that’s good”, Zidane said.

Real Madrid will face Sevilla the next Sunday and the French manager talked about the regular season match: “The tie is over and we have to play the league game on Sunday. We will suffer the same as today, and it will be very difficult for us. It is a tough stadium and Sevilla have very good players in their squad. This weekend will be even more difficult than the Copa del Rey second leg. This will always happen against Sevilla because they are a great team. They are seconds in the table and they are doing a great job this season”, Zidane explained.

Sergio Ramos received a huge booed after he scored the penalty goal from a Panenka style and Zinedine Zidane did not doubt to talk about it: “It’s not nice when they insult you. Sergio only played football and he has not done anything important. It’s not nice when this happens but we can’t do anything. Ramos is not happy. He has played many years for Sevilla and I’m sure he is hurt”, Zidane said about Sevilla supporters behaviour.

Copa del Rey Quarter Finals Draw

After drawing against Sevilla (3-3) at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Thursday, Los Blancos have discovered their next rival in Copa del Rey. Real Madrid will face Celta de Vigo on Wednesday 18th of January at Santiago Bernabéu and the second leg will be held at Balaídos on the 25th of January.

Zidane’s side continue with the run of 40 game unbeaten and they want to keep this strike against Sevilla in La Liga and Celta de Vigo in Copa del Rey. The team trained by Eduardo Berizzo knocked out Valencia in the Last 16 Round after thrashing (1-4) the ‘chés’ in Mestalla and the victory (2-1) at Balaídos.

Celta de Vigo will be a tough game for Real Madrid. The Galician team beat last year Atlético de Madrid in Copa del Rey, winning at Vicente Calderón. Celta were also able to beat FC Barcelona this year at Balaídos (4-3) in one of the best games in La Liga. This year they are struggling in the domestic competition -they are ninth with 24 points- because they are paying the effort of participating in Europe. They were also able to qualify into the Last 64 Round of Europa League, where they will face Shakhtar Donetsk.

Real Madrid have avoided to play in the quarter-finals of Copa del Rey against FC Barcelona or Atlético de Madrid. The Catalans will play against Real Sociedad, whereas Simeone’s side was lucky enough and they will face Eibar. Newly promoted team Alavés will play against Alcorcón, the only team from the second division. The draw for the semifinals will take place on Friday 27th at 13:00, Spanish time.

Real Madrid went through to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey drawing (3-3) at Sánchez Pizjuán thanks to a goal from Benzema in the very last minute. Again. Los Blancos suffered and the Andalusian side tried the impossible the whole game. As it was expected, Sevilla started the game pressuring very high and looking for Casilla’s goal. The Andalusian team arrived with a lot of player to Real Madrid box and they have importance chances very soon. However, the goal arrived very early and unexpected. Sarabia crossed from very far away and Danilo head the ball inside the goal. Casilla was astonished as all Real Madrid supporters.

With the advantage, Sevilla kept pressuring and thinking they could go through. Actually, they had really good chances but Casilla was always very safe. Real Madrid also could kill the tie in the counter attack, but they weren’t very accurate in the last cross. Mariano had chances and also Toni Kroos close to the half time, however Los Blancos couldn’t level the game in the first half.

The second half was even more exciting than the first one. It looked like Real Madrid closed the draw when Marco Asensio scored an amazing goal in the third minute, running from his own pitch. However, Los Blancos were very relaxed and Sevilla believed in the comeback. Jovetic, in his first game with Sevilla, and Iborra made the supporters believe in the victory. They needed two goals but Kranevitter made a clear penalty to Casemiro. Sergio Ramos, former Sevilla player, took the ball and scored in a panenka style. He pointed his number and the name to the supporters.

There was time for more excitement. Casilla still saved a couple of good chances and in the meantime the whole Sánchez Pizjuán was booing Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos. When the game was about to end, Benzema appeared with a great goal to save the record. Show must go on and we’ll see these two teams face to face again in La Liga.

Real Madrid are in talks with Dani Carvajal with the goal of extending his current contract. The Spaniard right back is playing really good in the last seasons and Los Blancos want to renew him. Despite his contract ends in 2020 and he only arrived one year and a half ago, the club wants to extend his deal because of his good performances.

Last year Real madrid signed Danilo from Porto and many people thought that the Brazilian right back was going to play more than Carvajal because he signed for an amount of €31.5M, being one of the best Porto players in that season. Since Danilo’s arrival, the Brazilian has not played as well as it was expected and Real Madrid are trying to extend Carvajal’s contract with the goal of having a very good right back for many years.

Carvajal is nowadays one of the best right backs in all the world and he is only 25 years old. This will be Carvajal’s fourth season in La Liga and he is improving season by season. This year he has been in the line-up 22 games and he has already played 2019′ minutes, while the last season he stayed in the pitch 2317 minutes. In only four games more, the right back will reach the same amount of minutes he played last season. In this year he is being very important for Real Madrid and nowadays no one can imagine a line up without Carvajal in an important game. He has been playing all his life with Real Madrid and his desire to stay in the Spanish capital will render the talks much easier.

Once again, the Argentine striker Paulo Dybala has been forced to clear all the rumors that link him with the big European teams. Finally it’s official. Martin Odegaard will leave Real Madrid on loan to play in the Eredivisie in the Netherlands. The winger will have the opportunity to shine with Heerenveen, currently situated in the fourth position of the Dutch League.

Since his arrival to Real Madrid in 2015, it was pretty clear that Odegaard will leave the Spanish capital to look for opportunities outside the giants. He has finally stayed with Los Blancos 18 months, playing most of the time with Castilla, in the Third Division of the Spanish football. The Norwegian wonder kid goes on loan to Heerenveen for a 18 months period. The Dutch Club will have the winger until the summer of 2018. However, Real Madrid will have the option to get him back at the end of the present season, in June 2017. The midfielder was the youngest ever player to appear with Real Madrid t-shirt, aged 16 years and 157 days.

The youngster failed to earn a position in the first squad and the club was looking for possibilities, so he could develop himself with an European top team. In the last summer, Odegaard was very close to join the French team Rennes, but some bureaucratic problems with the FIFA avoided the operation.

Odegaard is now over 18 years old, so he has no longer any problem with his status and both the club and the player have agreed on giving him on loan to Heerenveen. The Dutch team is performing a great season and they might be able to play European competition the next year. At the moment they are fourth in the table, only five points behind PSV, in Champions League positions.

Now, Martin Odegaard will have the opportunity to grow as a player and earn the possibility to go back to Real Madrid.
