Eibar v Real Madrid Preview

For the hosts, they may decide to go with Fabian Orellana in the hole behind the striker, and are likely to set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. There are a few players missing through injury, with Sergi Enrich and Fran Rico definitely missing out.

Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale all started from the bench on Tuesday against Paris Saint Germain and all three will be hoping to be in the starting 11 here. Modric and Kroos are very recently back from injury though and they may have to be eased back into things. Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio were excellent against PSG and may stay in the team.

Eibar v Real Madrid Predicted Lineups

Eibar (4-2-3-1): Dmitrovic; Pena, Lomban, Arbilla, Angel; Diop, Garcia; Orellana, Jordan, Inui; Charles

Real Madrid (4-4-2): Navas; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Vazquez, Kroos, Casemiro, Asensio; Ronaldo, Benzema

Eibar v Real Madrid Betting Tips

  • Eibar have won 4, drawn 3 and lost 3 games out of the last 10.
  • Real Madrid have won 8, drawn 1 and lost 1 game out of the last 10.
  • In the last 10 games, Eibar have scored an average of 1.2 goals and have conceded an average of 1 goal.
  • In the last 10 games, Real Madrid have scored an average of 3.1 goals and have conceded an average of 1.3 goals.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 2 of the last 10 Eibar games.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 9 of the last 10 Real Madrid games.

Eibar v Real Madrid Prediction

Eibar are having a very good season, currently sitting 8th in the La Liga table. That is just 2 points off 6th placed Villarreal and a place in Europe for next season, so the hosts will have a lot to play for on Saturday.

Real Madrid have only lost once in their last 10 matches, which was a 1-0 defeat to Espanyol a few weeks ago. Los Blancos will be desperate  to avoid a repeat of that result here. It has been a good week for Zinedine Zidane, beating Getafe 3-1 and Paris Saint Germain 2-1.

Real Madrid have won 7 of their last 8 matches against Eibar in all competitions and that is expected to continue here. Real have an embarrassment of riches going forward, so whoever starts is going to pose a threat to the Eibar defence.

Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, despite the fact that Los Blancos have just beaten Paris Saint Germain, one of Europe’s best sides, extremely comfortably in the Champions League.

Still, it is no secret that Real Madrid would like to add another striker to their ranks, with Karim Benzema the only real out and out target man they have. Real are expected to be very busy in the summer transfer window, to make up for their lack of movement last year.

As well as links to players such as Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic, a move for Harry Kane would probably be the biggest transfer of the summer if it was to happen. Benzema himself could actually be on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu in what would be a huge overhaul.

Kane Top Of The Wanted List

Even though the team won, Benzema’s two missed chances against PSG will not have raised his hopes of staying at the club, even though boss Zinedine Zidane is a big fan of the striker. Benzema’s age will also come into play, with possible replacements being a lot younger than the Frenchman.

Don Balon report that the top of the list of replacements is Harry Kane, who president Florentino Perez is a big fan of. He has scored an incredible amount of goals for Spurs in the last few seasons and would surely do well in La Liga.

It will be far from an easy deal to clinch though, as Tottenham are notorious for not selling their players for cheap. It would probably take something close to the world record fee for Chairman Daniel Levy to even consider selling his star man. Other potential options include Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski or Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi.

PARIS, FRANCE - MARCH 06: Cristiano Ronaldo of Madrid is challenged by Marco Verratti of Paris during the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 Second Leg match between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid at Parc des Princes on March 6, 2018 in Paris, France. (Photo by Matthias Hangst/Bongarts/Getty Images)

Real Madrid have advanced to the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League after comfortably seeing off the threat of French champions Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday  evening. The Parc des Princes was silenced after Los Blancos secured a 2-1 success on the night, and a 5-2 success on aggregate.

Cristiano Ronaldo continued his excellent form from the first leg, as he scored the opening goal here too. His two goals at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg were crucial in Real Madrid’s progression and he made sure he shined brightly on the big stage yet again.

PSG really made it difficult for themselves by having strong tackling midfielder Marco Verratti sent off for 2 bookable offences. Zinedine Zidane seemed to win the tactical battle too, leaving Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale on the bench, instead using a counter-attacking game plan.

Ronaldo opened the scoring on 51 minutes after a boring first half, netting his 12th goal in this season’s Champions League. An error from Dani Alves allowed Lucas Vasquez to cross and find Ronaldo who headed home. Then came Verratti’s sending off, though PSG did equalise after that. Edinson Cavani scored a lucky equaliser when a clearance bounced off him and into the net.

PSG’s hopes were ended soon after though as Real scored a scrappy goal of their own. Casemiro’s effort hit PSG defender Marquinhos and went in, as Real secured their place in the next round.

Los Blancos could actually have won by more on the night, as the woodwork was hit twice. Marco Asensio was one of the best players on the pitch and was unlucky not to score, while Vazquez hit the post from a Gareth Bale cut back.

The draw for the quarter finals takes place on Friday 16th March at 11:00 GMT from the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Real Madrid have been linked with a number of players in the last few weeks and months, ahead of the summer transfer window. Moves are likely to happen, as Los Blancos officials were criticised for not signing enough players last summer. In particular, striker Alvaro Morata was not properly replaced after being sold to Chelsea.

Morata’s current teammate Eden Hazard is one of the players that has been constantly linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, and the player has previously spoken of his admiration for Los Blancos.

The latest rumour from British publication the Daily Mail suggests that Hazard is stalling on any contract offers from Chelsea as he hopes to force a move to Real Madrid in the summer. The player looked dejected in the defeat to Manchester City at the weekend, as he didn’t seem to enjoy the defensive style of football his side was playing.

Borussia Dortmund Star A Target

What may be crucial in signing Hazard is keeping Zinedine Zidane as boss, as the player is a huge fan of the current Los Blancos coach. Of course, a player with the quality of Eden Hazard is likely to cost a lot of money, but that should not be an issue for Real Madrid.

Another player that has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu this summer is Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic. A report from Diario Gol suggests that a move for Pulisic could happen if Gareth Bale was to leave Real Madrid this summer. He has been linked with a move to Manchester United among others.

The report also states that PSG star Neymar is the number one target, and any move for Pulisic would only happen if the club are unable to secure the services of the Brazil international. Pulisic would be the cheaper option of course, costing around €80 million.

Paris Saint Germain v Real Madrid is a crucial match in the context of this season and  Real Madrid will hope to use their 3-1 aggregate lead to their advantage in the second leg in Paris. Real Madrid were great at the Santiago Bernabeu and another good performance here should see them through.

Paris Saint Germain v Real Madrid Preview

The big news for PSG is that superstar Neymar will play no part in this match, as he picked up foot and ankle injuries against Marseille a couple of weeks ago. Former Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria is expected to take his place in the team. Kylian Mbappe is a doubt as he missed their last game with an ankle injury. Alphonse Areola and Marquinhos are also doubts for the French side.

For Real Madrid, Dani Carvajal is available for selection after missing the first leg through suspension. Toni Kroos and Luka Modric made a return to training earlier than scheduled on Sunday and are likely to be part of the squad here. Both could start as this is such a crucial game. Marcelo came off the bench against Getafe on Saturday and is likely to play from the start this time.

Paris Saint Germain v Real Madrid Predicted Lineups

Paris Saint Germain (4-3-3): Areloa; Alves; Marquinhos, Silva, Kurzawa; Verratti, Motta, Rabiot; Mbappe, Cavani, Di Maria

Real Madrid (4-3-3): Navas; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema

Paris Saint Germain v Real Madrid Betting Tips

  • Paris Saint Germain have won 9, drawn 0 and lost 1 games out of the last 10.
  • Real Madrid have won 7, drawn 1 and lost 2 games out of the last 10.
  • In the last 10 games, Paris Saint Germain have scored an average of 2.9 goals and have conceded an average of 0.8 goals.
  • In the last 10 games, Real Madrid have scored an average of 3 goals and have conceded an average of 1.4 goals.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 8 of the last 10 Paris Saint Germain games.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 9 of the last 10 Real Madrid games.

Paris Saint Germain v Real Madrid Prediction

It is no secret that Real Madrid are not going to retain their La Liga title this season and they are out of the Copa Del Rey, so the Champions League is the last chance of any major silverware this season for Zinedine Zidane.

As expected, PSG are dominating in France and should win all of their domestic trophies. The Champions League is crucial for them and if they exit at the last 16 stage it will be deemed a major disappointment.

Real Madrid are leading 3-1 from the first leg last month, after two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and one from Marcelo, to counter the goal from Adrien Rabiot. Grabbing an away goal or two may be crucial, as will Neymar being missing.

MADRID, SPAIN - MARCH 03: Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid celebrates with Karim Benzema after scoring his team's second goal during the La Liga match between Real Madrid and Getafe at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on March 3, 2018 in Madrid, Spain. (Photo by Denis Doyle/Getty Images)

Real Madrid got back on track with a comfortable win against 10-man Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu this past weekend. It was a great warm up for the Champions League last-16 second leg against Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday.

It was far from the highest attendance of the season, with 55,000 at the Bernabeu, but Real Madrid dominated the match from pretty early on, having the vast majority of possession. That being said, Getafe had the first effort on target. Angel cut inside and hit a shot that was easy to gather for Keylor Navas.

Halfway through the first half, Los Blancos took control of the match as Isco’s knock-down fell for Gareth Bale, who fired into the corner of the net for a 1-0 lead. It was almost 2-0 a few minutes later, as Djene Dakonam almost was lucky not to score an own goal. Just before the half time whistle the lead was doubled as Cristiano Ronaldo picked up Karim Benzema’s great pass to slot the ball past the keeper.

After the break, it became an impossible task for Getafe as Loic Remy was given a red card for an arm in the face of Nacho. They gave it a go after that though, as they pulled a goal back from the penalty spot. Nacho brought down Molina and Portillo converted the spot kick.

Ronaldo made sure the game was safe though, as he leaped to head home Marcelo’s cross at the near post in order to ensure the three points for Los Blancos. This result has left Real Madrid still in 3rd place in La Liga, though Valencia are sticking with them all the way, only one point behind at the moment.

Zinedine Zidane and his side travel to Paris on Tuesday for what is undoubtedly the biggest match of the season so far. Los Blancos will hope to convert their 3-1 lead into progress to the quarter final stage.

A lot has been said about Cristiano Ronaldo’s form so far this season, but since the turn of the year he has really stepped up his game. The last couple of months have been fantastic on an individual level for the Portuguese superstar.

Ronaldo has actually made the best start to a calendar year since he signed for Real Madrid from Manchester United back in 2009. In the first two months of 2018, the player scored 12 times. It is no secret that he started the season very slowly, and it actually took him until early December to score his third goal of the season.

The winter break seems to have really helped though, as he has hit an excellent run of form in the last few weeks. Ronaldo has actually scored at least two goals in four separate matches recently, which is an incredible record. This included a hat-trick against Real Sociedad.

10 In La Liga, 2 In Europe

The only side that stopped Ronaldo scoring recently were Levante, and he grabbed 10 goals in recent La Liga fixtures. As well as the domestic goals, CR7 also scored two extremely crucial goals in the first leg of the Champions League contest against Paris Saint Germain at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Since the start of January 2018, Ronaldo has scored an average of 1.33 goals per game. Though he did score more in January and February 2013, he had played 4 more times so his goals-per-games ratio was not as good.

The turn of the year also means that Ballon d’Or voting has to be considered again. Lionel Messi is the favourite for this year, but if Ronaldo continues to score he could win his sixth ever Ballon d’Or. Speaking about the potential of winning another Ballon d’Or, Ronaldo had this to say:

“I never dreamed of winning the Ballon d’Or five times,

“If I had to finish my career now, I would be super happy… if I won another Ballon d’Or, two or three more times I’d be delighted with life.”

Real Madrid v Getafe Preview

Casemiro has been ill recently but he should be fine to start in central midfield against Getafe. Cristiano Ronaldo was rested completely against Espanyol and he is certain to return for this one at the Santiago Bernabeu. Karim Benzema was on the bench for that game and is very likely to start. Toni Kroos, Marcelo and Modric are out injured.

For Getafe, Amath is out due to a suspension, which may see Gaku Shibasaki play in a wide role on the left. Juan Cala was sold last week, so Bruno will continue at centre-back. Boss Jose Bordalas is not likely to make any big changes to his starting 11.

Real Madrid v Getafe Predicted Lineups

Real Madrid (4-4-2): Navas; Carvajal, Ramos, Nacho, Hernandez; Vazquez, Kovacic, Casemiro, Asensio; Ronaldo, Benzema

Getafe (4-4-2): Guaita; Suarez, Dakonam, Gonzalez, Antunes; Portillo, Fajr, Arambarri, Shibasaki; Rodriguez, Molina

Real Madrid v Getafe Betting Tips

  • Real Madrid have won 7, drawn 1 and lost 2 games out of the last 10.
  • Getafe have won 4, drawn 4 and lost 2 games out of the last 10.
  • In the last 10 games, Real Madrid have scored an average of 3.4 goals and have conceded an average of 1.4 goals.

  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 9 of the last 10 Real Madrid games.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 3 of the last 10 Getafe games.

Real Madrid v Getafe Prediction

Los Blancos were on a fantastic winning run until they ran into Espanyol in midweek. They lost that match with the last kick of the game, and that has meant a win is really needed against Getafe.

At the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have scored 16 goals in their last three outings at home, beating Deportivo Alaves, Real Sociedad and Deportivo La Coruna. Getafe are very good though, sitting in 9th place and they have only lost twice in their last 10 matches.

Real Madrid have won their last 8 home matches against Getafe in all competitions and they are expected to win comfortably again here.

Real Madrid fell to defeat against Espanyol in a disappointing result, as Gerard Moreno’s last minute goal gave the hosts the three points. Los Blancos had been on a five-game winning run but that all came to an end with this loss.

The goal came in the 93rd minute of the match, and it was a very good finish by Moreno, whose effort beat Real goalkeeper Keylor Navas. This sent the home fans into a frenzy, and gave Espanyol their first win against Real Madrid in 22 matches.

It could be argued that Espanyol had the better of the chances before they eventually scored too, as Moreno went close three times before finding the net. For Real, Gareth Bale went close with a header early on but was unable to convert.

A key story of the match was that star man Cristiano Ronaldo was rested so played no part whatsoever. Karim Benzema was also left on the bench, With Asensio, Bale and Vazquez as the attacking options. They were unable to break through though.

Bale had the best chance, as a deflected cross came in and the Welshman’s close range header was saved by Diego Lopez. Keylor Navas had an interesting game in the Real Madrid goal, as his poor clearance nearly let Moreno in, but Navas tipped the effort wide.

Espanyol were the better team in the second half, hitting the crossbar with an Oscar Duarte header. Moreno’s header was then saved by Navas. After going close again, Moreno then grabbed the winner with the last kick, converting Sergio Garcia’s cross into the net with an excellent finish.

This defeat has left Zinedine Zidane’s side in third place, 14 points behind the La Liga leaders Barcelona, who also have a game in hand. Real host Getafe next, with a 7:45pm kick off UK time.
