Spain’s most sold sports newspaper Marca claims today Real Madrid are facing a big problem regarding their goalkeepers.

“Trouble in goal,” they title. “With all the lights pointing to Iker Casillas, Keylor Navas will join the squad today, while Diego Lopez refuses to leave,” they explain.

Marca states Lopez had a heated conversation with Real Madrid directors on the plane back from the United States. “I’m better, and you know it, but do what you want,” he said.

The other main Madrid-based sport daily, As, highlights on it’s front page Keylor Navas words at his arrival to the Spanish capital: “I’ve come here to learn,” he told the journalists.

As points out Navas “arrived do Madrid yesterday, visited Valdebebas and spoke to Carlo Ancelotti.” “He will be unveiled at the Santiago Bernabeu at 13.00,” they report.

As also reveals that Florentino Perez and Angel di Maria’s agent Jorge Mendes are meeting today to discuss the Argentinian’s move to Paris Saint-Germain, aiming to reach an agreement with the French club as soon as possible.

Jesus Fernandez has left Real Madrid for Levante on a two-year deal, the club has confirmed.

The third-choice keeper at the Santiago Bernabeu fell even further down the pecking order after the arrival of Keylor Navas and he’s decided to make the move in the opposite direction to the Costa Rican keeper.

A statement on the Real Madrid website confirmed the deal. It read: “Real Madrid C. F. and Levante U. D. have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jesús Fernández. The club would like to express its gratitude for all his years of dedication and professionalism, and wish him luck in this new stage of his career.”

The 26-year-old Madrid-born keeper played for the side’s various youth teams before making a switch to Numancia in 2007. He returned to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2010 and played most of his football with Los Blancos’ second-string side Real Madrid Castilla. He spent the large part of his Madrid career playing understudy to the likes of Iker Casillas, Diego Lopez and Antonio Ardan.

Fernandez made two appearances for the Real Madrid first team – an 8-1 win over Almeria in 2011 and a 4-2 win over Osasuna in May 2013.

The keeper penned a two-year deal with Levante with a further option of two more years.

Real Madrid have announced the signing of goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who has arrived today to the Spanish capital to sign his contract with Los Blancos.

“Real Madrid C.F. and Levante U.D. have reached an agreement for the transfer of Keylor Navas, who has signed to the club for the next six seasons,” Los Merengues announced in their website.

“The player will be presented on Tuesday 5 August at 13:00, in the president’s box in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, after undergoing the corresponding medical,” they added.

Spanish press has reported the Costa Rican will sign a six-year contract, thus becoming a Real player until 2020.

Navas attended the media before taking the plane to Madrid and confessed “it’s going to be a nice experience and I’m willing to make the most of it from day one.”

“Becoming the starting goalkeeper is difficult, but I will work with humility. I will be positive as I have always been. I’ll do my best, and we’ll see what happens,” he added.

The 25-year-old admitted he was never worried about his signing: “I’ve been very quiet. I put it in God’s hands. If he wanted me to sign for Madrid, I would be there.”

Navas stated he expects to “learn a lot” from his new team-mates, and pointed out “Real have a strong and united squad.”

Keylor Navas is the third Real Madrid signing of the summer transfer market, joining midfielders Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out a move for Real Madrid man Sami Khedira as he admitted he is still looking to strengthen his squad.

The Frenchman watched his side beat Benfica 5-1 in the Emirates Cup on Saturday, but much of the post-match talk was about the summer transfer market and who he intends on bringing in during the final weeks of the window.

The FA Cup winners have been linked with 27-year-old Khedira all summer long as they look to add some strength in the centre of midfield. The German World Cup winner has just a year left on his contract in Spain and Los Blancos would prefer to sell him this summer rather than lose him on a free transfer next year.

When asked if he has made an enquiry for Khedira, Wenger responded: “What is enquire for you? I don’t know. If I read the newspapers, he is available.”

And he continued:”Who’s next? I don’t know. There could still be one signing, maximum of two. If a good opportunity comes up we might still do it, but at the moment we are not close to signing anybody.”

Khedira missed much of last season with a serious knee injury but made his comeback in time to help Los Blancos to success in the Champions League in May.

Madrid sports newspapers put their focus today on the fact that goalkeeper Keylor Navas will arrive in Madrid today and will soon be unveiled as a new Real Madrid player.

“The future is here,” Marca titles, pointing out “Keylor Navas arrives today and will be unveiled tomorrow.”

“Madrid announced the signing yesterday for ten million euros,” the Madrid daily highlights. “The Costa Rican will sign a six-season deal,” they add.

The other main Spanish sports newspaper, As, titles “Keylor Navas, until 2020.” “He was the best goalkeeper of the World Cup and the one who made the most saves in La Liga last season (163),” As report.

Alfredo Relano’s newspaper also emphasizes Navas words prior to his arrival: “Becoming the starting goalkeeper will be complicated, but I will work with humility.”

Marca also brings to its front page Carlo Ancelotti’s words on Los Blancos loses in the US tour: “We will improve,” he told the journalists.

The most sold Spanish newspaper claims “Cristiano Ronaldo will decide himself whether he’ll play the Spanish Supercopa or not.”

Meanwhile, As highlights the fact that Los Merengues target Radamel Falcao scored again in his second match after returning from a six-month injury: “He played 57 minutes and his header gave Monaco the victory over Arsenal.”

July 30th marked the 20th anniversary from the debut of one of the most beloved Real Madrid players of the last few decades: Fernando Redondo.

The Argentinian made his debut with Los Blancos in a match against Basilea, with a 2-3 victory for the Spanish club. Redondo played the whole 90 minutes that day, after having arrived to Real that summer from Tenerife,

Manager Jorge Valdano had insisted so much on signing Redondo that he refused a deal for Diego Pablo Simeone instead. The midfielder was a guaranteed starter at Real Madrid from day one, and he was a key for Los Merengues winning the league title in his first year at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He would go on to play in Madrid until 2000, when he moved to AC Milan in an 18-million-euros deal. In all those years, he played a total 227 games for Los Blancos, scoring five goals.

His track record as a Madridista is impressive: he won two Champions Leagues, two leagues, one Intercontinental Cup and one Spanish Supercopa.

He will always be especially remembered for his performance in conquering the eight Champions after giving a master class in Old Trafford in the quarter-finals of the tournament. His back-heel dribble to leave Berg behind and assist Raul to score is one of the plays the fans remember with proud.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has said his side will be ready for the European Super Cup against Sevilla and is not disappointed with how the USA turned out.

Los Blancos lost 3-1 to Manchester United on Saturday night, meaning they ended their two-week stint in the US with two defeats and a draw.

But Italian boss Ancelotti, who guided the side to success in the Champions League and Copa del Rey in his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu, said the tour was more about getting ready for the challenges that lie ahead rather than the results themselves.

Speaking at his press conference after the match, Ancelotti said: “We needed these games to help our preparation. We’re not happy with the defeat. But in seven days’ time we’re playing the Super Cup and we have to continue to prepare ourselves. Today we lacked intensity. The team wasn’t compact enough. We were missing something.”

He also said he is happy with his transfer business so far this summer, and by the time the Super Cup is played against Sevilla, the team will have Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez available. He also revealed Cristiano Ronaldo is desperate to play in the match, which is why he was given a 20 minute cameo in Michigan to get him up to match fitness.

“I have a stronger squad than last year so I’m very happy. Kroos and James will improve the group. Cristiano’s determined to play in the Super Cup, that’s why I gave him 20 minutes. There’s no reason to worry about his fitness; we’ll prepare him well and there’s no cause for concern,” Ancelotti stated.

Real Madrid ended their US tour with another defeat – this time to Manchester United – in a match that set the new record in the States for the highest attended football match.

And the 109,318 fans who packed into the Michigan stadium in Ann Arbor were treated to a brilliant attacking display from both sides. To add the icing on the cake, Cristiano Ronaldo made his first appearance of pre-season having work hard to overcome the injuries that plagued him at the end of last season and during the World Cup.

The Red Devils started the fastest of the two teams and took the lead on the 20 minute mark through Ashley Young, who finished off a move that involved Wayne Rooney, Darren Fletcher and Danny Welbeck.

Los Blancos though never lie down and get rolled over, and the response from Carlo Ancelotti’s team was almost immediate.

On the 26 minute mark, Xabi Alonso send a long ball over the top for Gareth Bale to run onto. When he was hauled down in the box by youngster Keane, the ref pointed to the spot. The Welshman picked himself up and placed his effort into the net.

Ancelotti’s side went into the break 2-1 down though, as Young scored his second of the game. His cross was missed by Rooney, who failed to connect, but it was enough to put off Casillas, who could do nothing to stop the ball going in.

The second half was more stop start, with a number of changes interrupting the flow of the game. But the biggest cheer of the night came with 15 minutes left of play as former United man Ronaldo made came on for his cameo. His introduction seemed to boost Real briefly, but he could do nothing to stop the Red Devils putting daylight between the sides. Chicarito headed home from close range with 10 minutes remaining to condemn Los Blancos to defeat.

Real Madrid are back in Spain having ended the US tour with a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United.

The Champions League winners drew against Inter Milan and lost against Roma in the previous two games on tour. The match against the Red Devils saw Cristiano Ronaldo make his first appearance of pre-season, coming on with 17 minutes to go.

A new attendance record was set at the match in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the 109,000 fans at the ground being the most to attend a football match in the USA.

But the papers today have the spotlight on one man – Iker Casillas. Both Marca and AS say the 32-year-old is still out of form and was at fault for at least one of the United goals. With one of the goalkeepers set to leave – and Diego Lopez looks the most likely at the moment – there is plenty for Carlo Ancelotti to ponder.

Elsewhere, the remaining big guns return to training this week – Toni Kroos, Sami Khedira and Angel di Maria were all given an extended break following their World Cup exertions. The main task for this week will be sorted out the future of di Maria. Ancelotti insists he has no intention of selling him, but PSG are ever confident of sealing a deal for the winger.

Real Madrid have made Los Blancos legend Raul Gonzalez an offer to return to his life club, Spanish newspaper El Mundo has revealed.

The former Real striker has recently retired after his contract with Qatar side Al Sadd expired last June, although he has not officially announced it. He’s been in talks with the Santiago Bernabeu club since the Champions League final in Lisbon, and there are various options for his return.

Miguel Pardeza, the former Sports Director, has left the club, leaving a vacancy that could fit Raul’s characteristics. However, the Spaniard is seeking a managing career and could prefer a coaching job at Real Madrid’s youth teams.

The legendary number 7 has received offers from various Major League Soccer clubs, but he is determined to put an end to his playing career, since the American league won’t start until March.

In his 16 seasons at Real Madrid, Raul played a total 741 games, scoring 323 goals and becoming the top scorer in the history of the club.
