Real Madrid president Florentino Perez showed a lack of honour by attacking former Los Blancos midfielder Mesut Ozil when he left the club for Arsenal at the end of the transfer window.

The German playmaker was shown the exit door at the Santiago Bernabeu on the same day Gareth Bale arrived at the club.

Despite calls by fans not to sell the 24-year-old, and a number of players coming out and saying they disagreed with the club’s decision, Perez slammed Ozil for being unprofessional – the main reason why he was sold to Arsenal.

The Real president claimed Ozil was obsessed with chasing women, which affected his ability to train and perform at the required level as he was always tired.

But speaking to German paper Bild, the player’s agent and father Mustafa Ozil, said Perez was disrespectful and that legal action against him was being considered.

He stated:  “Just because a person earns a lot of money, he is not automatically a man of honour. And Perez is not a man of honour.

“Mesut has been turned into a scapegoat. And I’m the greedy father who has just been waiting for the big money move. It’s a set-up, and lousy business. We will legally defend themselves. The people who know me know how professional I am.”

Gonzalo Higuain has said he had to leave Real Madrid in the summer because he was spending long periods out of the team.

The 25-year-old Argentina forward signed for Napoli in July ending his association with Los Blancos after scoring more than 100 goals in La Liga for the Santiago Bernabeu side.

Speaking to La Sexta, Higuain revealed he felt frustrated in his final season in the Spanish capital because he was constantly being rotated in and out of the team with Karim Benzema, meaning he couldn’t hit proper form.

He stated: “I had some great moments at Real Madrid, but also moments of unhappiness. I suffered because I wasn’t always playing. Sometimes Benzema started and then I got the chance to prove my worth again.

“I will always be grateful to the Madrid fans, though. They showed me a lot of affection during my seven years at the club.”

Gareth Bale has admitted he is fit and “ready to play the next game, if the manager finds it convenient”. Los Blancos visit Villarreal on Saturday and the Welshman could make his debut for his new club.

The 24-year-old attended a press conference to present Real Madrid’s second kit for the Champions League, and he answered the reporters’ questions.

“Obviously, I’m a bit behind my team mates in fitness, but I can reach their level shortly. In the first two trainings with the group I’ve felt really well.

“I have spoken with Carlo Ancelotti, but what we said stays between us. I’ll play in the position he wants and I’ll always try to give my best. I think the team’s style will suit me well.

“Cristiano Ronaldo has also given me a warm welcome. He’s a great boy. He’s made me feel well these two days. I hope we can have a good connection on the field. He is one of the reasons that I’m here”.

Bale joked about his Spanish: “I’ve learned to say ‘La Decima’ and that is a great step. We’ll try to win everything, and I’m sure we’ll always have the fans support. I’m eager to play at Santiago Bernabeu”, he concluded.

With Marcelo, Coentrao and Isco sidelined for Villarreal’s match, it seems very likely that Bale will play his first minutes as a Madridista, although he won’t be a starter.

Sergio Ramos can become the best defender in the world, according to former AC Milan and Italy defender Paolo Maldini.

The left-back, who spent his entire career at the San Siro, is one of the most respecte defenders of all time and his words of praise will come as a boost to Ramos.

Speaking to Madrid-based daily Marca, Maldini said Ramos has all the attributes to become the best in the world, describing him as physically and technically brilliant.

But he warned him that in order to be considered the best, Ramos has a few mental issues to overcome.

Maldini said: “Sergio Ramos has everything to become the best defender in the world, if he is not already. He is very close, together with Thiago Silva, but he must perfect some things to be the undisputed number one.

“He must be ambitious and work more in his head, because on the physical and technical sides he already has plenty. I am sure that Carlo Ancelotti will be a big help for him in putting the final touches to this.

“He can play in various positions at the back, centre-half and full-back, but to be the best centre-half he must always play a perfect game. Always.”

Gareth Bale arrived yesterday to Real Madrid training ground and the first thing he did, according to Marca, was meeting with Carlo Ancelotti in the coach’s office.

Marca claims in its front page that the Welshman told his boss he wants “to start playing now”. “I’m at your service for anything you order. I’m very motivated and excited”, Bale reportedly said.

As publishes a picture of Cristiano Ronaldo welcoming Bale at the parking, where they run into each other when the new Real Madrid signing arrived.

“Ronaldo was the first to welcome Bale to Valdebebas”, they title. “The two most expensive signings in football history already work together”, they add.

Spanish sports journalist Enrique Marques has claimed Iker Casillas is determined to move to Manchester United if he hasn’t reclaimed a spot in Real Madrid’s starting eleven by next January.

“Casillas would like a transfer to Manchester United if he stays as reserve goalkeeper. He and his agents have spoken to Alex Ferguson more than once, and former United manager is in contact with the club directors”, Marques revealed.

“They are excited about Casillas moving to Manchester and Ferguson has told him that. Casillas has always shown sympathy for United”, he added.

The Real Madrid captain’s main objective is to be Spain’s starting goalkeeper in the 2014 World Cup, and he would prioritise a transfer to a team where he can play regularly.

“Ferguson and Casillas believe the move would be possible thanks to the good relations between the English club and Real”, Marques stated.

This information came to light shortly after Vicente del Bosque revealed in a separate interview with Spanish radio station SER that Casillas had told him “he’s got his future almost solved”.

Real Madrid’s newest signing, Gareth Bale, has expressed his excitement at returning to the club following the international fixtures.

The Welshman signed for Los Blanco on deadline day but went straight off to team up with his Wales for their World Cup qualifiers, although he only made it off the bench for the final third of the match against Serbia, which Wales lost 3-0.

Having missed much of pre-season due to a foot injury, Bale said he was happy to return to the playing field, and is now focused on settling in at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Writing on his Twitter account, the winger said: “Great to finally get back to playing tonight, shame about the result though. Can’t wait to get to Madrid tomorrow #halamadrid.”

The 24-year-old could be set to make his Real debut away at Villareal on Saturday.

Juventus could make a move for Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao next January according to Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola.

Real Madrid sought for Coentrao’s exit this summer, but didn’t find a satisfying deal. The 25-year-old was close to signing for Manchester United on loan the last day of the transfer market, but negotiations broke down in the final moment.

A Bola claims that Juventus have been interested in Coentrao for a while, and will try to bring him to Turin if the Portuguese wants to leave Real Madrid when the winter window opens.

Reports told the Italian club are preparing a loan offer. However, Coentrao’s sadness at Madrid could be over in the next few weeks, as Marcelo is injured and he could return to the starting eleven.

Both Madrid sports newspapers highlight in their front pages the fact that Gareth Bale played his first official match since May yesterday.

“Bale is ready”, titles As, reporting that “the Welshman played 33 minutes with Wales and will train today at Real Madrid’s training ground”.

Marca’s headline is “Bale shines in half an hour”. “He played good minutes with Wales and will make his training debut with Real today”, they add.

Gareth Bale missed his national team’s previous game against Macedonia, but took part in yesterday’s loss against Serbia, despite starting in the bench.

As also reports that Real Madrid centre-back Nacho Fernandez made his debut with the Spanish national team in La Roja’s draw 2-2 against Chile in a friendly game. Sergio Ramos and Arbeloa also played.

Casillas was in the bench but, as highlighted by As, he received IFFHS’s Award as the Best Goalkeeper of 2012.

Sandro Rosell, the president of Barcelona, has claimed Real Madrid fought for the signature of Brazilian forward Neymar right up until the last minute – and that the player even underwent a medical with Los Blancos.

The 21-year-old joined the Catalan outfit in a 50 million euro deal in the summer having been linked with a host of top European clubs.

Speaking to TV3, Rosell revealed Neymar was close to a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu but chose the Nou Camp instead.

He stated: “When we reached a pre-agreement with Neymar’s father, the player had already passed a medical with Real Madrid.

“We joked that we could save ourselves the money of doing the tests ourselves. When we were already signing the contract, Madrid was sending emails to Santos.”
