Real Madrid president Florentino Perez showed a lack of honour by attacking former Los Blancos midfielder Mesut Ozil when he left the club for Arsenal at the end of the transfer window.

The German playmaker was shown the exit door at the Santiago Bernabeu on the same day Gareth Bale arrived at the club.

Despite calls by fans not to sell the 24-year-old, and a number of players coming out and saying they disagreed with the club’s decision, Perez slammed Ozil for being unprofessional – the main reason why he was sold to Arsenal.

The Real president claimed Ozil was obsessed with chasing women, which affected his ability to train and perform at the required level as he was always tired.

But speaking to German paper Bild, the player’s agent and father Mustafa Ozil, said Perez was disrespectful and that legal action against him was being considered.

He stated:  “Just because a person earns a lot of money, he is not automatically a man of honour. And Perez is not a man of honour.

“Mesut has been turned into a scapegoat. And I’m the greedy father who has just been waiting for the big money move. It’s a set-up, and lousy business. We will legally defend themselves. The people who know me know how professional I am.”
