Last Sunday, Real Madrid confirmed Danilo’s departure to Manchester City for an amount of €30M. The Brazilian right back didn’t reach the level expected since he arrived to the capital of Spain from Porto, and Los Blancos decided to sell him only two years later from his signing.

Now there are many doubts about if the team managed by Zinedine Zidane should sign another right back because nowadays the only player who plays naturally in that position is Dani Carvajal. According to Marca, Real Madrid will not sign any expensive player in that position because they want to give all their confidence in Carvajal, who is nowadays one of the best right backs in the world.

Real Madrid will not sign another right back and it looks like that the solution will be the versatility of Nacho, who can play in every position of the defense. Nacho showed last year that is a great player who can substitute everybody in the defense, even in the left back. Another solution could be give minutes to Achraf, a youngster who is currently with the first team at United States. In fact, Achraf played the second half against Manchester United and he showed very good conditions, being one of the best players of the game. The third option is Lucas Vázquez. The Spaniard winger can also play in the right back, despite he is a very offensive player. Zidane trusted him last year in the right back and his performances were really good.

Los Blancos have probably the most complete squad in Europe and it seems that they will not sign any right back in the current transfer market. The only option is the signing of a low cost player, who can support to be Carvajal’s substitute. Do you think Real Madrid should sign another right back?

Zinedine Zidane spoke at press conference after the defeat against Manchester United in the penalty shootout in the first friendly game of Los Blancos in 2017-2018 season. The French manager highlighted the good performance of the squad in yesterday’s game and other important topics such as the lack of strikers in the squad after the signing of Morata with Chelsea.

Zidane started the press conference talking about the first game of the preseason: ” I’m very happy with the performance of my players in the first game. We played a very complete match, and the most important thing is that there were no injuries”, Zidane said about yesterday’s game against Manchester United.

The journalist didn’t doubt asking Zidane about the signing of another striker after Morata’s departure to Chelsea: “I didn’t ask for a striker, in fact, I will not ask for any more signings. We have 26 players available and I’m very happy with my team. We have time to sign until August 31 but I will not ask for any player. ” Zidane confirmed  about the possible signing of a striker.

Sergio Ramos was absent in the first game of the preseason and the French manager affirmed that he will train with the rest of the team this week: ” Sergio Ramos is almost ready to train with the rest of the group. This week, on Monday or Tuesday he will train with us. He didn’t travel with us because it was the best option, but there’s no problem.” Zidane said about Real Madrid’s captain.

Real Madrid and Manchester United will meet again on August 8 in the European Super Cup and this is what the French manager expects about the fist title of the year:” Our goal is to reach August 8 in the best possible conditions. It’s the first title of the year and we will fight to achieve it”. The French manager affirmed.

Real Madrid lost against Manchester United in their first friendly game of the International Champions Cup at Levi’s Stadium of California, in a very equalize match that finished in the penalty shootout. Zidane decided to play with his usual line-up in the first half while in the second one, he introduced a team full of youngsters.

The French manager couldn’t count for this game with the Under 21 Spanish players (Vallejo, Ceballos, Marcos Llorente and Asensio), Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos, giving minutes to the youngsters in the second half, where we can highlight Théo Heranández’s debut with Real Madrid shirt.

Manchester United started the game playing with a lot of intensity, showing that they have already played three games in the preseason. The team managed José Mourinho had some important opportunities in the first 15 minutes,  but Keylor Navas prevented the first goal of the Red Red Devils with some good saves.

With the pass of the minutes Real Madrid midfield (Modric, Kroos and Isco), began to have to the ball possession, having the control of game. Gareth Bale played in the left wing (Ronaldo’s position) and we saw him quite fit after his injury, while Benzema showed that his ready to face the season being the only striker of the team.

It looked like Real Madrid was going to be the team who opened the scoreboard, but in the 45th minute, just before going to the dressing room, Anthony Martial did a wonderful play, beating three Real Madrid players and assisting to his teammate, Lingard.

In the second half we could see many changes in both sides. José Mourinho introduced his best players in the line-up highlighting De Gea, Pogba and the recent signing Lukaku, while Zinedine Zidane gave the opportunity to a very young team with seven youngsters and Kovacic and Casemiro as the leaders of the squad. Real Madrid’s youngster showed off their desire to impress Zidane in what are vital minutes for their development within the first team squad, playing in a high level against a team full of stars.

It looked like we would not see another goal until Théo Hernádez showed his speed in a very fast play, where Linderof did a clear penalty. Casemiro took the responsibility to shoot it, being the captain of the team in the second half and he tied the game with a very powerful penalty.

After Casemiro’s goal, Real Madrid and their team of youngsters continued playing very good, causing many problems to United, but they could not take the lead. We can highlight in the second half the good debut of Théo Hernández, and the brilliant performance of Achraf in the right back, being Blind’s nightmare in the last minutes of the game.

The game finished 1-1 and it was the moment of the penalty shootout, where David De Gea saved three penalties giving the victory to the Red Devils (2-1). On the 8th of Augost these two squads will play again in the European Super Cup and it seems that will be more serious.

Now the team mamnged by Zidane must prepare their second friendly game against Manchester City next Thursday (04:35 UK time).

alvaro-morata

Álvaro Morata was transferred to Chelsea this week but he left a lot of money in the safe for Florentino Pérez to sign his new Galáctico. The Blues paid €80M for the Spaniard, so he became one of the most expensive transfers in the football history. Actually, Real Madrid have never sold a player for a similar price, so he’s beating all the records.

Los Blancos didn’t want to sell Álvaro Morata but the player wanted to leave to have more minutes. Zinedine Zidane was very happy with the forward, but, unfortunately, Morata was decided to leave the Spanish capital. Now, he’ll gather again with Antonio Conte, his coach at Juventus.

Many people wanted Morata to stay, but the forward left a lot of money in the club. Actually, he’s the most expensive sale in Real Madrid history, beating Ángel di María, who joined Manchester United for €75M. Mesut Özil left €47M when he joined Arsenal, Robinho €42M (Manchester City), Gonzalo Higuaín €39M (Napoli) and Nicolas Anelka €34,5 to PSG. It’s unknown the price of the James Rodríguez transfer to Bayern Munich.

If we talk about Spanish players, Morata has also set a new record with his transfer. Until now, the most expensive one was Fernando Torres, who joined Chelsea in January 2011 for €58,8M, paid to Liverpool. Gaizka Mendieta joined Lazio for €48M from Valencia. Manchester United paid €44M for Juan Mata and Barcelona paid €40M for David Villa to Valencia. Bayern Munich also paid €40M to Athletic Club for Javi Martínez. Atlético Madrid sold for €38M Diego Costa to Chelsea and Fernando Torres to Liverpool.

Morata is also one of the most expensive players in the history. Actually, he is in the number eight of this list. The top of the ranking is Paul Pogba, who joined Manchester United last season for €120M. Real Madrid paid €101M for Bale or €96M for Cristiano Ronaldo. Will Kylian Mbappé join this list in the summer? Perhaps Florentino Pérez is already thinking how to invest this money.

Raphael Varane faces one of the most important seasons since he signed with Real Madrid with just 18 years old. This will be the seventh season of the French young full back, but for secure this one will be the most significant because his role in the squad has changed. So far, he has alternated very good moments, where it looked like he was going to be the best full back of the world in the future, and other bad ones that made him consider his departure from the club. Now that’s in the past, or so the player believes.

With Pepe’s departure the debate is over and it seems that he will be Sergio Ramos pair in the next season. In the final stretch of the season, the French defender was a key player for Zinedine Zidane, letting Pepe on the bench and having very good performances. He was included in the Champions League Final line-up (also in Lisbon because of Pepe’s injury) and now he must keep on working because all the medias and supporters will demand him more, and not only in the football aspect, also in Pepe’s role in terms of experience and authority in the field.

Varane was considered the young full back with more future when he signed with Real Madrid, but after his knee injury he has not reach the level he showed in Mourinho’s stage. Zinedine Zidane knows that he has a great defender in the team and he will do everything possible to recover his best level, giving him a lot of confidence and minutes.

The french full back has become a key player in Zidane’s line up and after being several years in Pepe’s shadow, this will be a very important year after the departure of the Portuguese defender to Besiktas.

Real Madrid and Manchester City have agreed a deal for the transfer of Danilo, who will play at the Etihad Stadium the next five season. Los Blancos receive €30M for the sale plus other €5M in bonus. The player will increase his salary as well with the citizens.

Although Juventus were very interested in signing the Brazilian right back and Chelsea also showed their intentions, finally Manchester City accelerated for the defender and they could close a good deal for all parties. Now Guardiola has two high quality right backs, with Kyle Walker and Danilo reinforcing this part of the pitch.

Danilo arrived to Real Madrid only two seasons ago from Porto for €31.5M but he was never successful with Los Blancos. Last season, he was booed several times for Real Madrid supporters after a couple of bad performances. Especially terrible was his mistake against Sevilla in Copa del Rey, when he scored a clumsy own goal.

The defender didn’t think about leaving the club at the beginning but the offers arrived from big European clubs and it was very hard to reject them. Besides, Danilo knows that it was very difficult to enjoy a lot of minutes with Real Madrid having Daniel Carvajal in front of him. The Spaniard is one of the best right backs in the world, was raised in Los Blancos academy and he’s very loved by the supporters.

He leaves the club with two Champions League, one La Liga trophy, the European Supercup and the FIFA Club World Cup, a great record book for only two years in the Spanish capital.

Danilo didn’t train in the last session with his colleagues, when the deal was about to be made official. Manchester City are also preparing the season in the United States, so it was easy for both clubs to meet and close the deal.

Real Madrid have done an incredible season winning the double with La Liga, and the Champions League. This was a very difficult task, because Los Blancos had not won La Liga in the last five years and they are the first team who claimed for second time in a row the Champions League title. Now it’s the moment to evaluate the performance of the players during the season 2016-2017.

Marco Asensio has done and amazing season in his first year at Real Madrid. The young player of 21 years old, has became in one of the best youngsters of La Liga, and in this year he has step up and amazed the world with great performances, especially in the Champions League quarter-finals against Bayern Munich and scoring the fourth goal of the Champions League Final.

His first season in a big club has been very successful. He started in August scoring an amazing goal against Sevilla in the European Supercup. Afterwards, he was able to score in Copa del Rey and Champions League, and also in the opening match in La Liga, against Real Sociedad.

No one doubt about his quality, but he’s been able to adapt himself very quickly to Real Madrid. Last year he played his first season in La Liga, on loan with Espanyol. He showed his quality as a playmaker, with 34 appearances and 4 goals. Los Blancos signed him in 2015 from Mallorca, paying only €4M for the youngster. He is a very technical player and very quick, something unusual for a play maker, who can also play as a winger.

In his first year at Real Madrid, Asensio has played an amount of 1077 minutes, scoring 3 goals in La Liga, 3 in Copa del Rey, 3 in Champions League and one in the European Super Cup (his first goal with Real Madrid shirt). Unfortunately, because of the competitors, he didn’t enjoy as many minutes as he deserved, but if he keeps showing this level, he will become in the future a very important player for Real Madrid. Therefore, Zidane should include him more often in the line-up. So far, he’s earn himself another season with Real Madrid.

Once again, Real Madrid and Barcelona with fight for the signing of a player who has done a very good season in his first year as a profesional. The object of desire of both squads is a young French full back named Malang Sarr, who currently is playing for OGC Nice. The young talent of 18 years old is also Chelsea’s target after sending on loan Zouma to Stoke City this week.

With Pepe’s departure to the Turkish League, Real Madrid want to improve the defense with new players, despite Jesús Vallejo has returned after being on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt last season. According to Sky Sports, the good performance of the young French defense has caught the attention of several big teams. The huge problem is the high price of Sarr. He has a release clause of €40M and it looks like, Nice will not sell him for a lower price because is a team that currently has no financial problems who will play Champions League next season.

Malang Sarr is nowadays a key player for the team managed by Favre, because of his great conditions and his youth. Nice have managed to uncover several young talents as Jean Seri or Sarr, as well as recovering the best level of players in decline as Mario Balotelli. Sarr played last season 27 games in the regular season   and four in the European League, showing that despite his youth he is a very good player, who can grow with the pass of the years.

After a summer where Real Madrid and Barcelona fought for the signing of Dani Ceballos, it looks like they will live a similar situation with Malang Sarr. Zinedine Zidane has a very good squad with two players in every position, but it seems that the French manager wants to complete even more the team. Do you think Real Madrid should sign another full back having Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Nacho and Jesús Vallejo in the squad?

Real Madrid have updated the numbers that the players will wear for the 2017-2018 season. There were many doubts in who will be the number 10 of the team, after James Rodríguez departure to Bayern de Munich. The number 10 is usually reserved to the players with talent who play as playmakers, and after many speculations that affirmed that Asensio or Isco will take that responsibility because of their technical conditions, finally Luka Modric has been the chosen one.

In the recent years, players as Robinho, Lass Diarra, Wesley Sneijder, Mesut Ozil and James Rodríguez have been Los Blancos numbers 10 but none of them had a good performance in their stage at Real Madrid. All of these players left the team without reaching the level expected for any reason and now Luka Modric will be the player who will try to end with this ‘curse’.

The Croatian will no longer wear the 19, the number that has followed him since his arrival to Real Madrid five years ago. His performance has been amazing, being nowadays one of the best playmakers in the world and having a lot of importance in the club. Luka Modric has been a key player in all Real Madrid successes in the recent years being the player who connects the midfield with the attack. We can also highlight the Marcos Llorente’s and Borja Mayoral’s numbers. The stopper will take number 18 while the striker, who it seems that he will go on loan this summer with the aim of playing minutes and grow as a player, will wear number 21.

These are the numbers of each Real Madrid player for the 2017-2018 season:

1- Keylor Navas
2- Dani Carvajal
3- Jesús Vallejo
4- Sergio Ramos
5- Raphael Varane
6- Nacho
7- Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid v Manchester United Prediction

Real Madrid are favourites to win their first game of the pre-season tour around United States, but Manchester United are more prepared for this game, after playing three matches in the last week. For this reason, Los Blancos might pay the physical effort of the hard training with Pintus and this game might be too challenging. However, we can expect a lot of goals, as usually for Real Madrid and that would be our choice for betting.

The last game between these two European giants was in 2014 in the International Champions Cup as well and the Red Devils won (3-1) with Ashley Young scoring twice and Chicharito finding the net. The last official game was in 2013, in the Champions League, with the great goal scored (1-2) by Luka Modric.
