Daniel Carvajal

Dani Carvajal spoke with the Spanish TV Movistar about the season just finished before going on holidays. The right-back played a great season, giving some important assists in the Champions League and scoring a crucial goal in the European Supercup. He ended the season playing with the Spanish national team against Macedonia, also achieving the goal of the three points.

The defender will attend Morata’s wedding on Friday at Venice and he was asked about the future of the striker: “I put in the shoes of a player who doesn’t play that much and want to enjoy the World Cup and sometimes the best option coud be leaving… or not. You never know, but he always seeks the best for him”.

Dani Carvajal also spoke about Pepe and the way the defender left the club: “He’s been here 10 years fighting for the club. I It’s a shame he didn’t have a game at Bernabéu where people could applaud him and his farewell has been a bit dull”. The Spaniard didn’t want to say anything about his words criticizing Zidane and Florentino Pérez: “These are decisions every player takes according to the personal relationship with the player and the club”.

In this sense, Dani Carvajal only has good words for his coach, Zinedine Zidane: “The things that matter are the titles and playing good; and Zidane is doing that perfectly”, the Spaniard said.

Dani Carvajal did also a perfect season. The right back was injured in the last games of the season, including the semi-finals of the Champions League against Atlético Madrid and the last three games of La Liga. The team is not the same when Carvajal is not in the line-up. He’s become a key player only two years after his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen. Now, the club is thinking of renewing his contract, as they’ve done with Marco Asensio. They want to build a team for the future and Carvajal is becoming one of the best right-backs of the world.

This Wednesday morning, Real Madrid have unveiled the new kit for the season 2017-18 in the Adidas shop at Gran Vía, the main street in the Spanish capital. Nacho, Los Blancos full back, attended the event and he spoke about the season just finished.

There are a lot of news in the new kit for the next season. In the home t-shirt, the blue appears again to be combined with the white. The colour of the sponsor Fly Emirates and the stripes in the shoulders is also in sky blue . They said it is inspired in the blue sky of the city of Madrid.

The black will be present again in the away kit. Real Madrid already won the Champions League in 2000, in Paris against Valencia, with this colour. The fans loved the kit and Adidas and Real Madrid decided to go back to the black. The kit uses a turquoise green for the badge and the Adidas logo. According to the brand, this t-shirt is made in a fabric similar to the one used in polo shirts. So the touch is totally different, more soft and comfortable. They’ve used the climacool technology, so the performance could be the maximum.

In the pictures published in the Real Madrid website, we could see also Keylor Navas with his new t-shirt. In this case, the goalkeeper kit will be green with the badge and the stripes in grey.

We could also see Zinedine Zidane wearing the new polo in white and the training pants, in this case they are black with the brand highlighting like a neon.

Marcelo, Sergio Ramos and the captains were also modelling for the new kit 2017-18. Hopefully, Real Madrid fans can enjoy as many success as this season with the new kit.

Spanish prosecutor filed a lawsuit against Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo for defrauding €14.7M between 2011 and 2014. In the text, they said that the Portuguese player created a business structure to hide the money from the Spanish Tax authorities. He’s accused of hiding his image rights income in those years.

So, the prosecutor says that the player failed “voluntary” to hide this money from the authorities. They presented a report and he was accused of four different counts for tax fraud, including 14.768.897 €.

Real Madrid have declined to comment the report, whereas Cristiano Ronaldo said this is an “injustice”. According to the prosecutor office, the Real Madrid player defrauded 1.4 million euros in 2011, 1.7 million euros in 2012, 3.2 million euros in 2013 and 8.5 million euros in 2014.

The issue started in December 2008, when he ceded his image rights to the company Tollin Associates Ltd, with address in the Virgin Islands, a tax haven country. The prosecutor thinks this movement was very suspicious: “Ceding image rights to (Tollin Associates) was completely unnecessary and it’s only purpose was to create a screen to conceal the totality of his image rights income from the Spanish tax authorities”.

In their statement, the prosecutor office also names Leo Messi, who faces a 21-month prison sentence for defrauding €4.1M on image rights. Neymar has also problems with the Spanish Justice as he’s been investigated for corruption in his transfer from Santos to FC Barcelona.

Cristiano Ronaldo is now in Russia preparing with his national team the Confederations Cup. The Portuguese player has always said he’s very calm about these accusations because he has always paid his taxes in Spain. Actually, after winning La Liga title in Málaga, he said that many people accused him of being a “criminal”, but he’s not such a person.

Raphael Varane will play with his national team the last game of the season in a friendly game against England. He has spoken with France Football in a long interview talking about his career, Zinedine Zidane and the titles he’s won in his time at Real Madrid.

Varane gave a lot of credit to Zinedine Zidane in the success of the team: “Zidane’s success is knowing how to convey calm to the group and he doesn’t change his functions during the year. He’s well-known by him serenity and calm. We’re sure about his strength and our strength too. He conveys us security and this trust is always needed”.

The French defender continued speaking about his manager: “With him on the bench there is a great harmony in the team. He knows how to treat us and he’s very close with every member of the squad. He speaks little, but when he does, everybody listen. Zidane is very charismatic. He has a way to proceed very discreet for small thing, and I like it. He’s not very outgoing but he knows to conveys the messages so they can cause the effect he desires”.

Finally, Varane wanted to compare Zidane’s style with other coaches: “It’s true that his style is very different in comparison with Mourinho’s. They are very different coaches”.

Varane spoke about the atmosphere in the group: “Cristiano, Ramos and Marcelo have formed the relaxed and winning atmosphere we have in the dressing room”. “We understood the idea and we haven’t let it go since the start of the season. I think this was the success of the team”, Varane analyzed.

The full-back also analyzed his career: “The child image is now over. I came through this stage. Now I see myself as a precocious footballer who has won almost everything and who wants to keep winning to improve the track record”.

The point is that Varane has now won three Champions League trophies with only 24 years old, whereas there are many players like Buffon, Maradona or Ronaldo who never won the trophy: “It’s true that these players never won the Champions, but I can never think that my name could be close to Buffon, Maradona, Ibrahimovic or Ronaldo. They are very great. I have still a lot of time in front of me”.

Finally, he was asked about the records Varane has achieved: “Records are not an obsession to me, although they are always a good signal of doing well the job”.

Marco Asensio Willemsen will renew his contract with Real Madrid until 2023. His salary will be higher -he will get €3.5M per year- and his release clause will be raised up to €350M. His previous contract expired in the 30th of June 2022 but the club wanted to reward the player with a new contract and a raise in his salary.

Marco Asensio is a star and the club knows. What the player has achieved in the first season with the club is amazing and they want to treat him with respect and affection. For this reason, his salary will be raised up to €3.5M per year, the same amount of money got by Lucas Vázquez, Mateo Kovacic or Daniel Carvajal, although the right-back will also extend his contract in the next days.

Real Madrid paid €3.9M to Mallorca in the summer of 2015, in a great deal, being quicker than FC Barcelona, who also wanted the winger. However, Asensio and his family have always said that his dream was to play at Real Madrid. The dream is accomplished now and for many more years.

He’s shocked everybody in his first season. He started the year scoring a very important goal in the European Supercup against Sevilla and he was able to score in the first game of La Liga against Real Sociedad. When the stars came back, he had to stay on the bench, but he shone in the games he was able to play. For example, he scored a great goal against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey.

Then, his best moments arrived at the end of the season, especially in the Champions League. Asensio was a key player in the quarter-finals against Bayern Múnich, giving an assist to Cristiano Ronaldo at the Allianz Arena. He also scored the last goal in the second leg at Bernabéu. The Spaniard also found the net in the Champions League final against Juventus.

Apart from the goals scored, the cheeky way of playing make us believe he can be the next star of La Liga. At the moment, he’s playing with the Spanish national team U-21 the European Championship and in July he will start his second season at Real Madrid. Hopefully, his progression continues and he keeps growing up with the club.

Jesús Vallejo Eintracht Frankfurt

Real Madrid bosses are covering little by little all the spots available in the squad. Marcos Alonso will reinforce the stopper position and give Casemiro a rest; Theo Hernández will cover Coentrao’s position in the left-back and Jesús Vallejo will be Pepe’s replacement as the fourth centre-back of the club.

Jesús Vallejo is currently preparing the European Championship with the Spanish national team U-21. He should be one of the most important players of the squad, together with Marco Asensio, another Real Madrid player. The club has the opportunity to sign another defender, and actually there were four options to replace Pepe, but the replacement was in-house.

The defender already knows that he will return to the Spanish league in July. Real Madrid told the player that he will be Pepe’s replacement in the squad, as the fourth full-back. Therefore, Varane, Sergio Ramos, Nacho and Vallejo will be the four defenders. All very young and prepared to defend the Spanish and European crown.

Vallejo was signed by Real Madrid last summer from Real Zaragoza, in Second Division, for €5M. Los Blancos decided then to give him on loan one season and he travelled to Germany to play with Eintracht Frankfurt. There, he was one of the best full-backs in the first half of the season, helping the team to fight for European positions.

From February, he had several injury problems that prevented him to shine more in the club. However, he was able to play the German Cup final against Borussia Dortmund. He played 25 games in Bundesliga, 22 of them in the line-up, scoring one goal against Leipzig.

Jesús Vallejo has been in touch with Real Madrid the whole season. Actually, the player went back to Madrid when he got injured to improve his performance and heal quicker. He’s been a beloved player for Eintracht Frankfurt supporters and now he has the chance to play at Real Madrid. It will be very interesting to see how many opportunities the Spaniard is able to have with the competitors in the squad.

Federico Valverde is one of the most promising footballers Real Madrid have in the club. He’s currently playing with Castilla, the second team, in the Segunda B, the third division of the Spanish football. The club has now to decide whether they keep the player one more year or he does on loan to a top-flight club.

Valverde travelled to South Korea to play the World Cup U-20 with his national team, Uruguay. The South American team arrived to the semi-finals but he was one of the best players of the tournament. Actually, he was awarded with the Silver Ball, so according to the experts, he was the second best footballer.

He plays both as a defensive midfielder or as a playmaker, behind the strikers. Actually, there is a debate in the club about his role in the team because they don’t know yet his ideal position. He played 30 games this season, scoring 3 goals. His first performances were quite poor but he’s been improving until finishing the season with great results.

Valverde (Montevideo, 22-7-1998) arrived to Valdebebas on the 22nd of July 2016, when he turned 18, so the club could avoid having problems with FIFA. They spent €5M to sign the player from Peñarol. This is the strategy the followed with Marco Asensio, Odegaard or Vinicius. Now, perhaps the club was right and Valverde could be a great player in the future.

At the moment, two top flight clubs have offered a deal to the player and the club. Real Madrid might think to give him on loan in the next season, so he can make his debut in La Liga. However, these offers came before he travelled to Korea to play the World Cup. After the Silver Ball award, the club might receive even more offers for ‘El Pajarito’ (‘The Little Bird’), his nickname.

Most of the players of Real Madrid are officially on holidays. On Sunday, the Spanish footballers played their last game of the season at Skopje against Macedonia, so now they can rest. Spain beat the rival (1-2) with Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajal and Isco in the line-up. Morata, Nacho or Asensio were on the bench.

After the game, Sergio Ramos spoke with the journalists and he talked also about Real Madrid and the transfer window: “If I were involved, I’d touch very little. We have a very complete squad and if it’s working, why touching it?”, the captain said about possible transfers during the summer. He also spoke about Morata, who could join Manchester United: “We’ll see if Morata leaves. I have a special affection for him and I always wish him the best. It doesn’t depend on me if he stays”.

The defender wanted to analyze the season with Real Madrid: “Perhaps this was the best season in my career. I achieved the first double and this cheer me up to keep doing good things for the next season. My year has been historical”.

Sergio Ramos was asked about José Mourinho words, who said that Los Blancos didn’t arrive to the semi-finals of the Champions League until his arrival: “In the first years is true, because when he arrived we started going through the Last 16. He said the truth. If someone has doubts, they have to see my track record. […] In my career I learnt from every coach. One more and one less”.

Finally, Sergio Ramos spoke about the grades for the season just finished: “I’m always optimistic. I’d put myself a 9 as a grade [from 10]. It’s been a very good and positive season”.

Now, it’s time for him to rest. The players have one month of holidays before going back to Madrid to train for the next season. Sergio Ramos will travel with the rest of the team to the United States for the pre-season, before facing the first two titles of the year: the European Supercup and the Spanish Supercup.

More than 65.000 people attended on Sunday the ‘Corazón Classic Match’ at Santiago Bernabéu. The supporters could enjoy a fun game between legends of Real Madrid and Roma. Los Blancos won the game (4-0) and all the money raised will go to projects in África organized by Real Madrid Foundation.

The fans could see many Real Madrid legends on the pitch. Especially, they enjoyed the presence of Ronaldo Nazario, who wore the white t-shirt ten years after at Santiago Bernabéu. The Brazilian player, always with a smile in his face, played 30 minutes because he no longer has the physical conditions.

The best moment of the game came in the first half. Figo was tackled in front of the box and the referee whistle. The Portuguese took the ball and kicked it. The ball went to the angle of the goal, touching the net. What a goal from Figo! He could even play for some team with these skills.

The other player who highlighted yesterday was Fernando Morientes. The forward is still in very good shape and he scored two goals, one from a great header. He is fit and he also shared a lot of minutes with Raúl González, who was cheered by the supporters. Even Emilio Butragueño played some minutes although he is 53.

As a left back, we could also enjoy Roberto Carlos. The Brazilian still has a really good touch from his left foot and he gave some amazing assists. Playing for AS Roma was Cafú, perhaps the best left and right back in the history of football. The last goal scored by Los Blancos was thanks to Edwin Congo, the Colombian striker who celebrated the goal with a funny dancing.

We could see other players showing a great shape like Míchel Salgado or even Savio. The goalkeeper was Bodo Illgner, who won the 7th Champions League against Juventus at Amsterdam Arena in 1998. This was the last game of the season at Santiago Bernabéu. The next one will be the Spanish Supercup against Barcelona in August.

Álvaro Morata

Álvaro Morata has a lot of doubts about his future. Although he said recently after winning the Champions League trophy that he’s a Real Madrid supporter and he would like to stay in the club, he also wants to enjoy more minutes in a top flight club and feel important within the squad. José Mourinho called the Spaniard to convince him to leave Spain and join Manchester United and the call was successful.

According to the Spanish newspaper MARCA, Morata has already told the club that he would like to leave the Spanish capital in the summer. His agent, Juanma López, went to the Real Madrid office to tell the club the decision made by the Spaniard. The call received by Mourinho was also very important.

The Portuguese coach phoned Morata this week. They had a good relationship because the coach was the Spaniard boss during his time at Real Madrid. The manager assured Morata that he was going to be very important with the Red Devils and they will fight for all the titles available. This season, Manchester United won three titles: Community Shield, EFL Cup and Europa League.

Morata would play with his colleagues in the Spanish national team David De Gea, Ánder Herrera and Juan Mata. Now, the Red Devils have to negotiate with Real Madrid, because the Spanish club is not willing to sell the striker. The transfer fee will be very high. Actually, Morata will set a new record for a Spanish player.

Real Madrid and Manchester United will play this summer the European Supercup on the 8th of August. Then, Morata could play for the very first time against Real Madrid with the Red Devils. The Spaniard also faced Los Blancos when he played at Juventus, scoring a decisive goal in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
