Real Madrid assistant boss Paul Clement has ruled himself out of the running for the manager’s post at Premier League side West Brom.
The 42-year-old Englishman has been linked with the top job at the Hawthorns after he put on record his ambitions to step up and be a manager in the future.
But talking to TalkSPORT, the former PE teacher said he and his family were settled in the Spanish capital and were looking forward to exciting times at the club.
Since his arrival in the summer as part of Carlo Ancelotti’s backroom team, Clement helped plot Real’s success in the Copa del Rey and finally ending the 12-year-wait for the Decima Champions League title. And he said he hopes for many more happy times at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Clement, whose brother Neil played for West Brom for 10 years, said: “Working for Real Madrid is a fantastic experience and I’m very happy here at the moment. My family are settled and we’d like to stay and enjoy this experience.
“I do have ambitions to make that step up to management at some point in the near future, and if the right club comes along at the right time then I’d like to do it. But at the moment I’m just going to enjoy my time here.”
Looking forward to his future working under Ancelotti, Clement added: “I’m working at a fantastic club every day, we have great players here and we’re competing for big trophies.
“Next year we’ll play in the game against the Europa League winners [the UEFA Super Cup]; we’ll be in the World Club Championship as well as competing for the Liga title, Copa del Rey and Champions League. It’s exciting times for Real Madrid.”
