Sergio Ramos says Real Madrid are on the right track having moved top of the table following their win over Granada on Saturday.

Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema secured the three points, while at the other end, there was another clean sheet – the team’s seventh in a row. And the defensive stability in recent games – still no goals conceded in 2014, is giving the team much confidence, Ramos said.

The World Cup winner told journalists after the match: “It makes the group happy and gives us a lot of confidence. Keeping a clean sheet is good news because the players in front notice the confidence from behind. It’s a sign that we’re on the right track and working really well. We’re still alive in the three competitions and hopefully one of the teams ahead will lose. We’re doing things well.”

Ramos also took the opportunity to praise boss Carlo Ancelotti and hit back at those who had criticised the manager at the start of the season, for what they said were confusing tactics.

“We have to learn to live with criticism. We have to do our job as best we can. Be honourable so that we can go home with our heads held high. We’re thrilled to have a great coach like Ancelotti, who’s also a great person and communicates well with the players,” he told reporters.
