Real Madrid stars Gareth Bale and Toni Kroos have spoken of their delight at travelling to Australia for the club’s pre-season tour and said they have been amazed by the support Down Under.
The pair both featured for Los Blancos on Saturday evening as the team drew 0-0 against Roma but lost 7-6 on penalties at the MCG in Melbourne.
On Sunday, the squad took part in an event organised by sponsors adidas, and the players were asked about their experiences in Australia so far.
Bale, about to start his third season at the club, said: “The stadium was incredible and it was amazing to experience at atmosphere like that. We did ok against Roma and now we are already thinking about the game against Manchester City. It’s amazing to come to a new country.”
He German team mate also spoke highly of the welcome they have received in Melbourne. He stated: “It’s a joy to be here and see so much support for Real Madrid. The only thing is that it’s cold here at the moment and I prefer warmer climates!”
New midfielder Lucas Vasquez also gave his thoughts, commenting: “It’s a beautiful country that I’ve enjoyed a lot and I love being here.”
