Theo Hernández is one step closer to Real Madrid. The French left back has passed the medical with Los Blancos, so he’s signing with the Spanish giants is almost done. FC Barcelona are also trying to get him on board but it looks like the player has already chosen his destination: Madrid.

According to the Spanish newspaper MARCA, Theo Hernández travelled to Madrid to visit the Medical centre Sanitas La Moraleja. There, the player passed the medical without any problem so he’s signing with Los Blancos is almost done. Real Madrid will pay the €24M of his release clause in summer. This could trigger a new war between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, the neighbours and rivals in the Champions League semi-finals.

In the last days, FC Barcelona tried to overtake Los Blancos with the signing of the left back. Robert Fernández, Barcelona sports director, tried to convince the player, but Theo Hernández confirmed his willingness of joining the European champions in the next transfer window.

Theo Hernández’ performances haven’t been affected in the last week after the rumours of his possible transfer to the Spanish giants. Actually, on Sunday he scored the first goal of his career in La Liga against Athletic Club, with a great shot to the angle. Theo Hernández is growing as a player in the Spanish La Liga and it looks like that he would be the perfect replacement for Marcelo once Fabio Coentrao is gone.

The transfer will be announced once Alavés play the final of Copa del Rey, on the 27th of May against FC Barcelona. If the Basque team beat the Blaugranas, it would be Theo’s first service to Real Madrid.

In the meantime, his brother, Lucas Hernández, has extended his contract with Atlético Madrid. The young full back played as a right back at Santiago Bernabéu and he suffered a lot in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals. Now, his brother will join the rival and the relationship between both clubs might be affected after the clash in Champions League and this signing.
