Zinedine Zidane decided a team A and a team B. James Rodríguez is part of the team B, playing in La Liga and helping the team from the bench in the important games of the Champions League and against Barcelona or Atlético Madrid in the Spanish league. The Colombian playmaker has understood his new role with Los Blancos and he’s showing his quality.

The best performances of James Rodríguez this season are arriving at the end, when Los Blancos are still fighting for two titles. The Colombian playmaker said back in December, after winning the FIFA Club World Cup, that he might leave the club. He changed his mind, but he hasn’t been enjoying many minutes with Zidane on the bench. However, every time he has the opportunity to play, he’s doing great, especially in the last games.

James feels important with the new role. In the games against Eibar, Deportivo, Leganés or Granada, the Colombian player lead the team from the midfield, together with Isco, and he’s finding the net very easily. For instance, James has scored 8 goals in La Liga this season, seven of them came in the last two months of competition.

Apart from these games with the Team B in La Liga -also very important to win the title at the end of the season-, James Rodríguez enjoyed some minutes in El Clásico, and he scored a very important goal then. He was also chosen to play against Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena ahead of Isco. So Zidane knows that James Rodríguez is improving a lot and he can give a lot to the team.

The issue around James Rodríguez is especially sensitive as the Colombian playmaker could leave the club at the end of the season. He has to convince Zinedine Zidane that he could have an important role also from August, if James decides to stay. With Isco or Marco Asensio in a similar position, it would be difficult for him to stand up from the competition. Also Florentino Pérez would love to have some return of the investment if he finally sells the Colombian midfielder.
