Premier League side Tottenham Hostpur are bracing themselves for a player-plus-cash offer from Real Madrid for star player Gareth Bale, according to the Mirror.

Los Blancos have been linked with the Welshman for a number of weeks now, and reports suggest the transfer saga may speed up following Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment as boss.

The Mirror claimed the Santiago Bernabeu club will offer a huge sum of money, along with Argentinean winger Angel di Maria to try and tempt Spurs chairman Daniel Levy into parting with the 26-goal Bale.

So far, Los Merengues have been met with an unwillingness to discuss the deal between the clubs – who last summer announced a partnership agreement – while Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has stated his player will not leave.

The north London side are believed to have offered Bale a new deal worth close to 200,000 euros a week, although Madrid are hopeful of finally landing their man.
