Zinedine Zidane spoke in press conference after the great game played by his team in the first leg of the semi-finals against Atlético Madrid. The manager wanted to be cautious: “It’s not decided. Simeone is right. Today we played well, we prepared the game, knowing their strength and ours. We’ve been better. The 3-0 means that we played a great game, but we know we are going to suffer in the second leg. For sure”, the manager said.

However, the French coach couldn’t be happier: “I don’t know if this has been my best game, but it was a great match. It’s not easy to score three goals. The first half an hour was great, we had a lot of chances to score the second goal, but we did it in the second half. We played a great game without conceding any goal, which is very important playing at home”.

Zidane wanted to be prudent because there are still some games left this year: “Today we can be happy, but I don’t think there is euphoria. There is still a lot left in the Champions and La Liga. We haven’t won anything yet. Today we have to enjoy, rest and think about Saturday’s game, which is very important for La Liga”.

Obviously, the best player in the pitch was Cristiano Ronaldo: “He knows he needs to rest Then with the changes someone comes in and he played great. We can start with one formation, change, and be even better. We started with Isco in between the lines and he played great. Then with Marco Asensio and Lucas we played with the wings”, Zidane analyzed.

Zidane wanted to highlight the strength of the team: “The strength of Real Madrid is the idea of the game. Trying to play because we have great players. With patience we can punish any team. Our first half an hour was great, with a lot of chances, rhythm and great technically. In the second half we were very effective, with less chances we score two goals”.

Zizou doesn’t want any confidence to face the game at Vicente Calderón next Wednesday: “In football there are no easy games. We’re going to need a perfect game at Vicente Calderón to go through”.

Apart from highlighting the great second half of Nacho, Zidane was also questioned about his feelings at Madrid: “I’m happy. I enjoy every day what I’m doing with my players. But we haven’t won anything. The most important thing is to be focused, also for me. I’m happy because we played a great game, scoring three goals to a difficult team and not conceding any goal”, Zidane finished.
