Real Madrid players can be very happy after the start of the new season. Only some days after winning the European Supercup against Manchester United, they showed his superiority against the great rivals FC Barcelona in the first leg of the Spanish Supercup, winning 1-3 at Camp Nou.

Zinedine Zidane spoke in press conference after the game and he was asked about the referee, who whistled an invented penalty and sent off Cristiano Ronaldo: “As always, I won’t speak about the referee. We did a great game. What I’m bothered is about Cristiano’s red card. Perhaps there is no penalty, but the card is a bit hard. But we cannot change that, although we’ll try him to be present on Wednesday”.

The manager was very happy with the team’s performance: “With 10 players we fought and believed in the victory until the end. But this is only a game and now we have the second leg”, the coach explained.

Zidane was also asked about Marco Asensio, who scored again a great goal: “I’m not surprised about Marco Asensio. He’s doing great, he has quality, break the lines, shoot great… It’s not new. We are happy with him, like everybody. It’s not easy to come in in a game like this only 15 or 20 minutes, but he came in quickly and made the difference. But we can talk about all the players like Isco or Mateo Kovacic. We have to highlight the team”.

Actually, the French coach also talked about Isco’s performance, perhaps the best player of the game: “I thought I could have this Isco. When he signed for Real Madrid, I followed him closely and I see he only needs some time. Not only sometimes he makes the difference. Today it was very hard to steal him the ball. He made the team play”, Zidane analyzed.

Kovacic was the big news in the starting eleven, replacing Modric, who was suspended: “Mateo did a great game. We prepared it well and he did it great. Then he felt pain in the harmstring, so we substituted him”.

Finally, Zidane spoke about the result: “We are happy with the result, but the tie is not finished and we have to play on Wednesday. We have to enjoy today and tomorrow we have to think on Wednesday’s clash”.
