Liverpool FC are trying to improve their squad for the next season after arriving to the Champions League in Kiev last May. They’ve put their eye on Marco Asensio as his new start to build a great attacking line with Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Saido Mané. According to the Spanish newspaper MARCA, the ‘Reds’ are able to offer up to €180M for the Spanish winger and they can also raise his salary.
“It’s not the time to speak about this”, Asensio said this week when he was asked about his plans for the future. Unfortunately for him, Asensio’s role so far hasn’t been very important as he didn’t start in any of the games played in the World Cup before the decissive game against Russia, where he started but Spain lost in the penalties.
However, the youngster didn’t shut the door to these rumours. Asensio is one of the key players in Real Madrid’s future and the club is not willing to let him go. Besides, so far he has always spoken really well about his experience at Real Madrid. However, he hasn’t got a spot in the line-up and, for instance, he was on the bench in the Champions League final.
Despite his age, he has become a very important player in the squad but not to secure a place in the starting eleven. Gareth Bale’s possible departure could benefit the Spaniard, who plays in the same position. In addition, Cristiano Ronaldo’s new role, as a forward, makes more space for the young player.
After Zinedine Zidane’s departure and after winning three Champions League titles in a row, Real Madrid could risk the departure of many of their stars as the end of the project. For instance, Mateo Kovacic said recently that he wants to leave the Spanish capital this summer. Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t wait so long and said at Kiev that they might leave the club during the summer.
