Rafa Benitez: The players put in a great effort

Rafa Benitez praised his players following Real Madrid 0-2 win over Eibar in La Liga. The Spanish manager said “the players worked hard, intensely, put in a great effort and let their quality shine through.”

“The win came through team work, it was achieved through everyone working hard. The things we worked on came off and allowed us to break the deadlock at a difficult ground as well as pick up three points against a tricky opponent. All of the Real Madrid players played sensationally,” he told the journalists at the press conference after the game.

Asked about their chances to win La Liga after losing to Barcelona last week, Benitez explained “it’s November and there’s still loads of time to go.” “We have a great team and we’re going to fight to win every game from here until the end of the season,” he added.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been one of the most criticised players this week, but Benitez stood for the Portuguese when asked at the press conference: “He got a goal, created chances and worked for the team. He contributed to the win and I was delighted with his performance.”
