Real Madrid secured a point in the last minute in El Clásico and Los Blancos continue at the top of the table 6 points ahead of big rivals FC Barcelona. Now they have to focus in the Champions League and beat Borussia Dortmund to lead the group.

Zinedine Zidane is the main protagonist of the good moment of Real Madrid. The French coach arrived in January and he changed the dressing room. Apart from the results, the atmosphere changed, the players are more involved in the project and he has given many opportunities to the youngsters -Lucas Vázquez, Nacho, Asensio, Kovacic…-.

Now we want to highlight the best moments of Zidane’s career at Real Madrid:

First game in Champions, first victory

It was his first big moment with Los Blancos. Real Madrid had to face Roma in the Last 16 round of the Champions League. It was Zidane’s debut in the best competition. Los Blancos competed well at Olímpico and they won (0-2) thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesé’s goals. In the second leg, Real Madrid won again (2-0).

Come back against Wolfsburg

One of the worst moments in Zidane’s time at Real Madrid was the game in Germany against Wolfsburg in the Champions League quarter finals. Los Blancos lost (2-0) in Germany -it was the last game Real Madrid lost- but they came back at Bernabéu. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat trick to earn the semi finals.

The great triumph. The 11th Champions League

Obviously, the biggest moment in the last year was the Champions League trophy. The 28th of May Los Blancos won the 11th Champions League in Milan against city rivals Atlético de Madrid. Zidane has won the Champions League as a player, assistant coach and manager. No one thought this was possible in December but the French manager made it true.

European Supercup in the last minute

The second trophy arrived in August. Zidane couldn’t have Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale or Keylor Navas. The youngsters took the responsibility and they won the trophy. Again Sergio Ramos scored in the last minute and Los Blancos won in the extra time. It was the second trophy for Zizou.

First El Clásico, first victory

Real Madrid had the league lost in February. Barcelona opened an important gap, however Los Blancos were able to beat Barcelona in El Clásico. Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema scored the goals. It was one of Zidane’s biggest victories.

Great performance in the derby at Vicente Calderón

The only game lost in La Liga was in the derby against Atlético Madrid. Los Blancos played this season at Vicente Calderón and they thrashed the big rivals. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat trick in a great team performance. Isco and Mateo Kovacic shone in the derby.

Sergio Ramos secures a point in El Clásico

It’s the most recent memory. Real Madrid travelled to Barcelona with 6 points of difference with the big rival. Los Blancos were better in the first half but they conceded a goal from set pieces. Luckily, Sergio Ramos scored again in the last minute. The difference is still 6 points.

12th victories in a row at the end of La Liga

Although La Liga was almost over in February after the defeat against Atlético Madrid, Los Blancos were able to fight the title until the end. Real Madrid won 12 games in a row but they were unable to come back and Barcelona won the second straight title.

33 games unbeaten

This is history in the club. If Real Madrid are able to get a point against Borussia Dortmund, it will be the longest unbeaten run in their history. Currently, they haven’t lost in the last 33 official games. Only two defeats in 11 months, against Wolfsburg and Atlético Madrid.
