It’s obvious that any side would miss the talent of Cristiano Ronaldo but Real Madrid are expected to make do without him when they face fellow La Liga side Sevilla in Norway. The UEFA Super Cup is widely considered as a curtain raiser for the domestic season across Europe and Los Blancos will be keen to put on a show. However, without their talisman, can they get the win?

After all, it was Ronaldo that got both goals in a 2-0 victory when these sides met in Cardiff 2 years ago following La Decima. Real’s biggest star is something of a specialist against Sevilla too, having scored a record 22 times against them, more than any other club he has faced in his career. Those amazing stats are from just 15 games against Los Rojiblancos, including five hat-tricks.

Ronaldo remains sidelined with a knee injury sustained when on international duty following a robust Dimitri Payet challenge in the Euro 2016 final. Karim Benzema is also struggling for fitness, so the mantle is passed to Gareth Bale to get the goals. However, the Welsh Wizard has not taken part in any preseason games but has been training while on extended leave following Euro 2016.

Bale currently has 58 goals from 123 club appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions. He had numerous spells on the sidelines through injury last season but still managed to accumulate an impressive haul of 19 goals from just 30 games played. He was also tied with club teammate Cristiano Ronaldo on 3 goals in Euro 2016, so is considered to be in goal-scoring form. It looks as though he will be Real Madrid’s main goal threat on Tuesday night.
