Zinedine Zidane spoke at press conference after Real Madrid’s victory against Valencia in the 35th week of the regular season. Los Blancos beat Valencia in the last minutes with a great goal of Marcelo, once again in the end of the game. The French manager highlighted today’s opponent, James performance, the game of his payers and why Isco didn’t play today despite he is having a great moment.

Zidane stared the press conference talking about the difficulty of today’s match against Valencia:” When you play against a team that don’t have any goals in the rest of the season it’s worse, the played without pressure, but there are no excuses. We didn’t score the second goal and we had to suffer until the end”, the French manager said about today’s opponent.

Real Madrid didn’t play their best match in the season and this is what his manager thinks about the clash:” Form the beggining of the game we were not very successful, we had a bit of anxiety, but with the pass of the minutes we improved. We had many chances to score the second goal and suddenly they tied us. This means that we can still improve. I can’t explain why we score the goals i the last minutes, I just know it’s exciting“, Zidane affirmed.

James played today instead Aensio or Isco and we saw him very active especially in the first half: ” He has played very well, he has done his job like everyone else, I’m happy with all my players performance”.

Today we saw a great game of both Marcelo and Carvajal and Real Madrid’s manager wanted to highlight their match:” They have been more offensive, more than normal. Having these two players it’s very positive for us. They are two very important players but I must say that I have the best ones, so all of them are important for us”, the French manager said.

Isco didn’t play any minute today despite his good presences in the last games and the journalist didn’t doubt about askinghim why he stayed on the bench during all the game: “You will see on Tuesday if he plays the first leg of the Champions League against Atlético. He is in a great moment”, Zidane said about Isco.

Real Madrid won 2-1 in the 35th week of the regular season against Valencia at Santiago Bernabéu. This was a very tough game because the team managed by Voro has only lost one of their last five games in Real Madrid’s stadium. Los Blancos suffered during the match, but with Marcelo’s goal in the last minutes they could achieve another victory in La Liga.

Zinedine Zidane decided to introduce his favourite line-up despite they have an important clash on Tuesday against Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals. The French manager introduced James instead of Isco or Asensio in the attack and Nacho was Sergio Ramos pair instead of Varane in the defense.

Valencia had the first chance of the game in the first minute where Sergio Ramos did a mistake in the defense and Santi Mina had a great opportunity to open the scoreboard but the ball finished in the bar. Zinedine Zidane always says that he likes when his players begin the match with intensity but in this case Los Blancos started the game with certain doubts. James was being the best player of Los Blancos in the first 20 minutes, being the playmaker who connected the midfield with the attack. In the the 27th minute Real Madrid scored the first goal of the clash with a great header of Cristiano Ronaldo from a wonderful cross of Carvajal. After Cristiano’s goal it looked like Los Blancos were going to control the game but they were having problems to pass the ball in the midfield because Valencia were defending really good without letting spaces between the defense and the midfield.

Real Madrid started the second half better than the first one and in the first minutes Los Blancos had a great chance to open the gap from a penalty kick but Cristiano Ronaldo missed it or Diego Alves prevented it with a good safe. In the 65th minute Zidane decided to introduce Asensio by James Rodríguez, who was being one of the most active players on the pitch. Valencia grew with the pass of the minutes and Zidane had to do his second change replacing Benzema by Morata. The French striker had some opportunities to score his goal but he didn’t have his best game with the white shirt. In the last minutes of the game Real Madrid were searching their second goal with some good chances of Crsitano and Morata, but Parejo tied the game with a precise free kick, unstoppable for Keylor Navas. These were very bad news for the team managed by Zinedine Zidane because it was the 82nd minute. Once again when there was only five minutes remaining, Marcelo scored the second goal with a great right footed shot. The Brazilian left back appeared in the last minutes showing that he is a great moment in the send of the season.

Los Blancos won once again in the last minutes and now they must focus on Tuesday’s match against Atlético Madrid. The team managed by Zinedine Zidane suffered against Valencia but finally they achieved the three point with a goal of Marcelo, when there was only five minutes remaining.

Zinedine Zidane spoke in press conference before facing Valencia in La Liga, a game that they have to win to continue in the battle of the title before welcoming Atĺético Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu. However, the manager spoke more about Isco or the important moment of the season than about the rival on Saturday.

According to the manager, Los Blancos arrive well to the end of the season: “We are very good. What we’ve done until now we did it great. During the season you have to suffer, but we can be positive about what we are doing at what we did”. Zidane said that the players are with the manager: “There are moments of the season where you can have some doubts, but not now. The players are convinced”, the manager said.

Zizou also explained his famous changes in the line-up and whether he is fair or not: “I don’t think I’m unfair, on the contrary. I have a great respect for my players and I have to choose but I’m not unfair. There is another player, another club and another situation where the substitutes don’t play a minute. They play when the coach needs them and then is late. For me is not like this. I have to choose a line-up and you can think that some games are played by the same players, that there is a team A and B, but not for me”.

Regarding this team A or B, the manager explained his point of view: “From the beginning I know I have a great squad, that everybody is focused and they know this is Real Madrid. Apart from the quality, they are very serious”.

Zidane also told the journalists how he convinced Cristiano Ronaldo to rest: “I don’t think I’m brave, it’s my thought. I’m not the person who is going to put on the bench Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale. I talk with the players, I try to explain them my thoughts and we keep going altogether. We have the same path and the same idea. You have to get the understand that this is the way”.

Finally, the manager spoke about Isco, perhaps the best player in the last month and how he tells the Spaniard that he’s going to be on the bench: “I’m here for this. It’s difficult. Isco not playing every game is complicated after his performances. I try to speak with them. We have a game tomorrow, another one on Tuesday. Isco is focused and he has the trust of his coach. We’re going to keep like this until the end of the season and we’ll see next season”.

Zizou also said that he prefers Cristiano as a winger: “He has always played as a winger and, sometimes, as a forward. But his role is winger and nobody is going to change that. He’s scored 400 goals as a winger”.

Florentino Pérez has an obsession: he wants David De Gea dressed in white. This goal could be accomplished this summer after several years trying to get the Spanish goalkeeper to sign a contract with Real Madrid.

This Friday, the Spanish newspaper Marca published in the first page that Los Blancos have an agreement with David De Gea. According to this information, the Spanish goalkeeper has already asked Manchester United to leave the club in the summer and the Red Devils are already preparing a replacement in the goal.

Real Madrid are ready to pay a record transfer fee for a goalkeeper. Florentino Pérez will pay around €75M to Manchester United and De Gea will sign a five or six year contract with Los Blancos. The goalkeeper will earn less money in Madrid, because he was getting €12M per year after tax.

Real Madrid tried to sign David De Gea two years ago. Actually, Los Blancos finally reached an agreement with the goalkeeper and the club, but the paperwork arrived late, as they were negotiating on the 31st of August. Florentino Pérez has learnt the lesson and they want to close this deal earlier, so they don’t have these kind of problems.

José Mourinho already knows that David De Gea’s intention is to leave Manchester. The manager is not happy, but he has already found a replacement. Joe Hart, former Manchester City goalkeeper, is the chosen one. Currently, the British goalkeeper is playing on loan with Torino, but he’s willing to go back to his city.

After the poor season of Keylor Navas, Real Madrid managers are convinced that the club needs another goalkeeper. The Costa Rican has made many mistakes and Zinedine Zidane doesn’t think that Kiko Casilla is a real alternative. For this reason, the club needs another goalkeeper and De Gea, Courtois or Donnarumma were the best players in this position. Although many people inside Real Madrid think that the Chelsea goalkeeper is better than De Gea, Florentino prefers the Spaniard.

Real Madrid v Valencia

Real Madrid v Valencia meet at Santiago Bernabéu in the 35th week of La Liga (15:15, UK Time), with Los Blancos fighting for the title before playing against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.

Real Madrid v Valencia Preview

Real Madrid thrashed Deportivo La Coruña on Wednesday with another great show given by Isco and company. Perhaps, the Spanish playmaker, Asensio, James or Morata deserve to play more minutes, but it’s very unlikely that they have another chance on Saturday. Bale is injured, so there is room for another playmaker who should be Isco. Besides, Sergio Ramos returns from suspension, so Nacho should rest on the bench.

Valencia have no goal in the end of the season, because they are very far from the relegation zone and they won’t arrive to the Europa League positions. Voro’s team hasn’t won in the last three games, being defeated in the last two against Málaga and Real Sociedad. Zaza and Cancelo are suspended, whereas Rodrigo and Abdennour are injured.

Real Madrid v Valencia Prediction

Valencia is always an uncomfortable team for Real Madrid and we can expect a tough game for Los Blancos. In the last years, Valencia could get some points from Bernabéu and they fought a lot at Camp Nou. However, we are going to back always Real Madrid in these kind of games because they need to win every single game until the end of the season.

Los Blancos lost at Mestalla (2-1) in a game that was postponed due to the FIFA Club World Cup. Zaza and Orellana scored the two goals in the first 10 minutes and Zidane’s side was unable to comeback. Last year, Real Madrid won (3-2) at Bernabéu Stadium.

After three years without a Galáctico in the team (James Rodríguez was the last one to arrive), Florentino Pérez is ready to invest hundreds of millions in a new striker for the team. Eden Hazard and Kylian Mbappé are the two players with more odds to arrive to the Spanish capital.

According to the French newspaper L’Equipe, Real Madrid are ready to pay from €120M to €140M for the young striker, so it would be the most expensive transfer in football history, even more than Paul Pogba or Gareth Bale. Monaco know that they have a jewel in their squad and are ready to make some business with him. Los Blancos are convinced of the difficulty of signing Mbappé, especially after the negotiation for James Rodríguez, when Los Blancos paid €80M to Dmitry Rybolovlev, Monaco owner.

At least, Real Madrid have one competitor less to get Mbappé. According to the British newspaper The Times, Manchester City have discarded the option of signing Kylian Mbappè. The club owner Khaldoon Al Mubarak is not ready to pay €120M for just one player because the team needs several footballers to improve this year performance.

If Real Madrid are ready to undertake this signing, Karim Benzema, James Rodríguez or Gareth Bale should leave the club. Perhaps two of them. Los Blancos would need to cash in some money and make some room for the French striker in the dressing room before spending such amount of money.

Mbappé is highlighting this year after scoring 23 goals and giving 11 assists in the 37 games he’s played so far. Especially, he showed his quality in the important games of the Champions League, beating Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund with his goals. Now he has the challenge of helping Monaco to arrive to their second Champions League final in their history, but they have to beat Juventus in the semi-finals. Perhaps, Mbappé and Real Madrid meet at Cardiff in the beginning of June. This would mean that both clubs are fighting for the Champions League trophy.

Morata-JamesRodríguez-Riazor-GI

The second line showed at Riazor that they are able to play better than the usual line-up. The journalists call the second line of Real Madrid to Isco, James Rodríguez, Mateo Kovacic, Álvaro Morata or Danilo. Let’s say, the players who are on the bench in the big games but show off every time they have a chance.

In the four last important games of the season -Atlético Madrid, Barcelona and the Champions League quarter-finals- only Isco had the opportunity to start in the second leg against Bayern Múnich because Gareth Bale was injured. The others had to wait their opportunity on the bench. Actually, Álvaro Morata, for instance, didn’t play any minute in these games, but he was able to score the opening goal at Riazor in the first minute.

A lot of supporters claim that these players should have the opportunity to start in the big games. Especially when some of the usual players in the line-up are not really fit. Zidane’s mistake in El Clásico was introducing Gareth Bale from the beginning when the Welshman came back from an injury. Now, Bale will miss the semi-finals of the Champions League and Zidane wasted a substitution. Besides, Isco or Asensio are showing a greater level than the British winger, so they deserve to play.

The same applies for Karim Benzema. The French striker was showing a great quality during the month of March, but his game hasn’t been consistent during the season. Meanwhile, Morata is on the bench and he scores every time he has the chance. If the things don’t change, the Spaniard will leave again Madrid and Los Blancos will regret it because he’s a young and talented striker.

Luka Modric is not at his best as well, so Isco, Kovacic or James could play in this role in the games to come. With a crucial month of May to come, Zinedine Zidane should think about giving more opportunities to these players because they’ve earned it with their effort. Will Zidane be brave enough to put these youngsters in the line-up? We’ll see in the following games.

Isco, Isco and Isco. Everybody is talking about the former Málaga player and the quality he’s showing every time he has the chance to play with Real Madrid. A lot of supporters still ask Zidane why he didn’t play any minute in El Clásico and they claim for more opportunities for Isco.

Zinedine Zidane was asked about this situation after the game at Riazor. The manager had very kind words to the playmaker: “Isco’s game was amazing. He does things on the pitch that not everybody can do. The supporters acknowledge it and I’m happy for him”, Zidane said because, when Isco was changed, Deportivo supporters gave him an applause.

Apart from Isco, James Rodríguez scored two goals and played a good game: “I’m happy for their performance and their goals. I’m satisfied for everybody. The good thing is that the players with less minutes are focused, physically at a good level and they want to play. Now the difficulty is mine. Are you going to tell a footballer who has played like this that he won’t start in the next game? But we need everybody”.

The coach was very happy for the result at Riazor, where Barcelona were defeated: “We had a lot of chances, but we need to be happy for everybody’s performance. What they’ve done is great, in the pace, how serious they played… I’m very happy for everybody’s performance”.

Although in the very important games, Zidane always put the same line-up on the pitch, for the manager everybody is important: “There are no two teams for me, because everybody plays well. We are together on the same boat and it will be like that until the end”.

In one week time, Real Madrid will face Atlético Madrid in the Champions League and, almost for sure, these players will be on the bench again: “They are putting the things more complicated for me, but on Saturday we have another game. The good thing is that everybody is focused, that’s the most important thing”.

Finally he spoke about the BBC and whether they should be in the line-up or not: “The debate is always going to be opened, but I think everybody is important. We just think game by game, choose the right players… Tell them that they won’t play the next game after this performance is complicated, but they understand. It’s a great squad”, Zidane finished the press conference.

Real Madrid played one of the best games of the season and they thrashed (2-6) Deportivo de la Coruña at Riazor. It wasn’t an easy stadium -Barcelona lost and Atlético Madrid drew- but Los Blancos made an exhibition. Again, the substitutes show Zidane that they deserve more minutes. Especially Isco, again brilliant.

Zidane might think in giving the opportunity in the big games to some of these players. Isco, Asensio or Morata are highlighting every time they have the chance. Kovacic or James Rodríguez show also a great quality when they have minutes. If Modric, Bale or Benzema are not fit, perhaps these are the solutions. Today, they play one of the best games of the season.

The game couldn’t start better. In the first minute, Isco assisted Álvaro Morata, who found the net very soon. It was the best way of starting the game after the doubts in El Clásico. Real Madrid didn’t stop there because Isco and Asensio hit the bar. Germán Lux also saved two clear chances. All this in 14 minutes. In the 15th came the second goal, scored by James Rodríguez. The third came in the 16th but the referee whistled offside, wrongly. It was the perfect storm.

Deportivo could breathe a bit after that, but Los Blancos could open even the gap much more. For instance, Morata had a very clear chance in front of the goalkeeper, two metres away from the goal and he missed it. But football is unpredictable and Florin Andone shortened the gap in the 35th minute. Deportivo could draw the game after a big mistake from Casilla. Just one minute later, luckily, Isco made an amazing play and Lucas Vázquez finally found the net.

Isco, the show must go on

The second half started with Deportivo taking control of the ball and Real Madrid defending. Both were comfortable with these roles, because the Galician team didn’t show up close to Casilla’s goal. On the contrary, Los Blancos could score the fourth goal and Lucas Vázquez had the best chance after a great assist from Asensio, but the former Espanyol player missed it. Isco’s show didn’t finish in the second half as he had the control of the game.

In the 66th minute, the fourth goal arrived. This time was Álvaro Morata the one dribbling the goalkeeper and James Rodríguez tapped the ball in the goal. It was an exhibition of the whole team. Especially Isco, who scored the fifth goal of the game in the 77th minute. Joselu, former Real Madrid player, scored the second one for Deportivo in the 85th with a great header and Casemiro closed the scoreboard in the 87 with a shot from outside the box.

It was a perfect game and Real Madrid deserved even more goals. Los Blancos can show a great quality even with the footballers who use to be on the bench.
