Real Madrid have to beat Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in the last game of the Champions League group stage to finish first. Both teams drew in Germany and this would be a huge clash among two of the best teams in Europe.

Los Blancos have to very concentrated to stop some of the key players of the side trained by Tuchel. Especially, everybody will have a look to Patrick-Emerick Aubameyang, Borussia Dortmund star. However, there is another player that might be interesting for Real Madrid supporters. This is Julian Weigl, the stopper.

Aubameyang has said several times that he would be very happy to join Real Madrid because he’s a supporter. Part of his family come from Ávila, a little town 100 kilometres far from the Spanish capital and his grandfather was ‘madridista’, so the striker has never hidden his dream of playing for Real Madrid. Los Blancos have also shown interest in the forward, as he is one of the best strikers in Europe.

Apart from Aubameyang, Real Madrid supporters should keep an eye on Julian Weigl. According to the Spanish newspaper OKDiario, Los Blancos are interested in this midfielder. Weigl is only 21 years old and he’s enjoying his second season with Borussia Dortmund after his transfer from Munchen 1860 for €5M.

Weigl has been an important part of the team since his arrival and he played 30 games last season in Bundesliga, whereas this year he’s played 12 games in the German league. As a stopper, Weigl is very important for Tuchel’s formation and he even scored a beautiful goal in Portugal against Sporting in this Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund have a wonderful squad with Marco Reus, Andre Schurrle or the former Barcelona player Marc Bartra. However, we should put the eye in Patrick-Emerick Aubameyang and Weigl, perhaps two future Real Madrid players.

Zinedine Zidane has now serious problems in the attacking line, with Morata just recovered from an injury and Karim Benzema with a really poor level in the last games. Los Blancos are always trying to spot good youngsters, like Mariano Díaz, and they’ve now put their eye in a Swedish youngster.

Alexander Isak is his name. He’s only 17 years old and he’s playing in the Swedish team AIK Solna. In his season debut, he has scored 10 goals in only 24 games and he has become one of the best players in the Swedish league. Despite his age, he has started in 19 games this season, so he’s gaining experience in an important club, who finished the league in the second position behind Malmö.

The situation reminds us the one lived by Odegaard. Another young player coming from the Northern countries, but Isak has much more experience than the winger. His good performances have risen the interest of important clubs of Europe such as Paris Saint Germain, Juventus, Chelsea or Real Madrid.

Actually, according to the Swedish newspaper Expressen, Real Madrid have already made an offer of €8.2M but the Northern club has rejected it. “There are a lot of rumours around Alexander Isak at this moment. We can say there is a lot of interest. However, we are not going to comment anything at this regard”, Bjorn Wesstrom, the Sports Director, said.

We have to remember that FIFA banned Real Madrid signing any player in the next two transfer windows. However, Los Blancos appealed the sanction and they still believe they could add some players to the good squad they have right now. Taking in consideration his age, it should be a player for the future and he might have to play with Castilla -Real Madrid second team- and gain more experience before joining Real Madrid first squad.

After the draw in El Clásico, Real Madrid have to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stage. Los Blancos need to win the match to finish top of their group. Some people say it might be better to finish in the second place but “we don’t have to do any calculations. We want to be the first”, Zinedine Zidane said.

Apart from the rival, the journalist were very interested in James Rodríguez situation. Despite the injuries, the Colombian didn’t play any minute in El Clásico and the French manager was asked about a possible transfer: “Every one can have their opinion, when you play less, you can think about it. He’s a player of Real Madrid and it’s important to me. It’s tru that it’s a problem. He wants to play more and lately he’s not playing a lot but for me he’s important. I’ll need the whole group”, the manager said.

The Colombian player trained after El Clásico: “For me this is nothing. I admire James, who trains and is available for the coach. I have the same treat with James Rodríguez and the others. The fact that he trained on Saturday in Valdebebas doesn’t change abything. A lot of players do it after the games, to recover. The same treat”.

Another player who is not at his best is Karim Benzema: “I’m not concerned. He can give more, like everybody. He’s training well and there are some games that we need more from him. He works always and he tries to be better. He doesn’t have any problem. In the game in Lisbon, he scored. We expected more from him in Barcelona. But I see him focused, concentrated. I’m not going to judge a footballer for a game”, the coach said.

Zidane also spoke about the important game against Borussia Dortmund. Los Blancos need to win to lead their group: “We are going to play a final, the final of the group stage. We play at home and we want to do a great game. We are not going to do calculations. We are going to try to be first”, the French manager finished.

Everything seems positive at Real Madrid in the last days. The team beat Atlético Madrid in the derby and opened the gap until six points with Barcelona. Besides, Sergio Ramos found the net in the last minute of El Clásico securing a point at Camp Nou. Now Real Madrid have to face Borussia Dortmund in the last game of the Champions League group with the obligation of winning to lead their group.

The squad is optimistic although is going to be a tough game. Los Blancos have to face the German squad, then Deportivo La Coruña in La Liga and the FIFA World Cup to finish the year with the possibility of adding another trophy to the museum. And Zinedine Zidane will have the full squad available for these games except Gareth Bale, recently operated in London in his ankle.

The last players to join the rest of the squad were Álvaro Morata and Toni Kroos. Both were expected to come back one or two weeks later but they’ve shorten the recovery period and they might have some opportunities to play some minutes against Borussia Dortmund.

Toni Kroos had a fracture in his toe and he’s been out of the pitches since the game against Leganés in the 6th of November, so he’s missed the last month of competition. The German is one of the most important players of the squad as he had played every game since his injury.

Álvaro Morata also got injured in November when he played with Spain at Wembley against England. He had a problem in his knee, so he couldn’t appear in the last month of competition. Due to the low level shown by Benzema, it’s very important to recover Álvaro Morata.

Therefore, Zinedine Zidane has now the full squad available with the exception of Gareth Bale, who will be out until March. Casemiro, Kroos or Morata can now play the last four games of the year and even Coentrao or Danilo have recovered from their muscular problems.

Real Madrid secured a point in the last minute in El Clásico and Los Blancos continue at the top of the table 6 points ahead of big rivals FC Barcelona. Now they have to focus in the Champions League and beat Borussia Dortmund to lead the group.

First game in Champions, first victory

It was his first big moment with Los Blancos. Real Madrid had to face Roma in the Last 16 round of the Champions League. It was Zidane’s debut in the best competition. Some time ago, we wrote about the interest of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona for the young Portuguese winger Gelson Martins. Now, according to The Sun, both clubs are interested in signing Manchester United star Anthony Martial, who is not very happy with the Red Devils.

Anthony Martial arrived from Monaco in the last days of the summer transfer market in 2016 after paying a high transfer fee of €50M. In these two seasons, the French player has only scored 12 goals in the Premier League in 40 appearances. The 21-year-old striker is not having Mourinho’s confidence and he’s only scored one goals this season in the league, starting only 6 games.

This lack of confidence could be one of the reasons why Martial could leave Manchester United. According to the British press, Real Madrid and Barcelona have spotted the opportunity to sign the youngster. The Red Devils would prefer to sell the player to Real Madrid because James Rodríguez could be included in the operation, with the Colombian midfielder already forgotten by Zizou after not playing El Clásico.

The Sun informs that Martial could be sold for £60M, so it would be a profitable operation for the Red Devils. Real Madrid have currently Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Álvaro Morata and Mariano Díaz in the attacking line. Real Madrid are in a very good moment and they are doing a great season so far. Los Blancos have a run of good result without loosing any match since 32 games ago. We could saw great performances of many players but there’s two, that are not having the expected importance. These players are Benzema and James Rodríguez.

Despite the injuries that have suffered Los Blancos in this season, Real Madrid are having very good results. Cristiano Ronaldo is scoring being in these moments the top scorer player of La Liga with 10 goals. With all the injuries Los Blancos have, we could also saw a great evolution in Mateo Kovacic, Lucas Vázquez and Nacho, being key players in several matches.

There are two players that must be very important in Real Madrid but they are not showing their great quality. Benzema and James are receiving many criticisms from Real Madrid supporters because of their poor performance in the last months.

Despite Benzema scored the first goal in the match against Sporting Lisbon, the French striker is not in his best moment. We saw him disappeared in El Clásico and he was substituted in the last ten minutes by Mariano. Karim Benzema is having several physical problems and his numbers this year are quite poor. He has just scored 6 goals in all the season and these numbers font’s remind the ones of last years, being one of the best player for Zidane.

James Rodríguez is having his worst season since he signed from Mónaco and he is also reviewing many criticisms from Real Madrid supporters. He did not participate in any minute in El Clásico despite Los Blancos were loosing the match. The Colombian midfielder is not having any importance in the good run of Real Madrid, and he is only playing a few minutes in a certain matches. James is a very good player but he must show it. His last match was against Cultural Leonesa in Copa del Rey where we could saw him really active despite the low level Cultural have.

Luka Modric played an incredible match against Barcelona being a very important player for Los Blancos. The Croatian midfielder was a key player in the midfield, especially in the first half, where we could saw him in an unusual position. Zidane decided the Modric should be the “stopper” Real Madrid needed. Casemiro was not 100%, and the French manager decided to let him on the bench and play with a midfield with Modric, Kovacic and Isco. Modric played in a more defensive position as he usually plays and he was the the player that connected the defense with the attack.

He played in a positions that reminded the one he usually plays with his national team. Modric first half was incredible, he did not fail any pass in the first 45 minutes. He tried 34 passes and all of them finished in their destination. We must highlight the good defensive effort Modric did with Casemiro’s absence. The midfielder made six steals and did not let Barça pass the ball with facility.

In the second half, with Casemiro’s entrance, Modric played in a position a bit more offensive and he did not defend as well as in the first one. However, the Croatian midfielder did two more steals in the match and he finished with a total of 8, which left him as the second players with more steals only surpassed by Varane. Modric finished the match with 59 of 62 passes completed, or what is the same a 95.2% of correct passes.

Modric finished the match a bit tired and in the last minutes we saw him disappeared, nevertheless he had a bit of energy to contribute in Real Madrid’s goal. As happened in Lisbon, Modric made a great cross that once again Sergio Ramos finished it with a great header in the 89th minute. This goal gave the draw to Los Blancos and maintain the distance of six points respect Barcelona.
