The latest rumours suggest that Real Madrid have held talks with Chelsea over a potential deal involving striker Karim Benzema and Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard. It has not been the greatest season for Benzema, as he has missed a number of games through injury in the first few months.

The lack of game time has meant that the Frenchman has got five goals in all competitions. This is not too bad, but since Real are struggling badly in La Liga so far they really need their main striker to be contributing more to the team. Zinedine Zidane’s side trail the league leaders by a number of points and goals have been a bit of an issue.

The Spanish publication Diario Gol suggests that Los Blancos may look to offload Benzema in the summer. They have also claimed that talks are underway with English Premier League side Chelsea regarding a potential swap deal involving Eden Hazard.

Player Plus Cash

Of course, with the age of the two players being considered it is fair to say that Eden Hazard’s market value is quite a bit higher than Karim Benzema’s. This would mean that any potential deal would be player plus cash, with Real Madrid also having to spend a bit extra to make the deal happen.

Hazard has been a long-term target for Los Blancos and it would be a major coup if they were able to get the deal done in the summer. The Belgian international was actually rumoured to head to the Santiago Bernabeu last summer but the player broke his ankle, ending any potential move on that occasion.

The deal will not be a simple one though, as the report from Diario Gol also suggests that Chelsea are desperate to keep Hazard. The player may demand a move though, as Chelsea themselves have had a poor season too.

Cristiano Ronaldo Wins His Fifth Ballon d'Or

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo turns 33 today, so there is no better time to celebrate his greatest moments in a Real Madrid shirt. It has not been the greatest season so far but the fact that he still has the quality is undeniable. Let’s take a look at some of his best days as a Los Blancos player.

First La Liga Trophy

After joining the club from Manchester United, the first title with Real Madrid was a special one for Cristiano. In the 2011-12 season, Ronaldo grabbed 46 goals in just 38 matches. This led Los Blancos to the title, which was a great moment for everyone involved.

Winner at the Camp Nou

This famous contest took place in the 2011-12 season and whoever won this game was likely to go on and lift the La Liga trophy. At the time, Real Madrid had not won the title for a few seasons and there was big pressure on the match. Ronaldo grabbed the winner in this one, and his now infamous ‘keep calm’ celebration silenced the Barca fans.

European Success

Not only was this the UEFA Champions League final, but there was added pressure due to the fact that Real were facing Madrid rivals Atletico. The game was taken to extra time, where goals from Bale, Marcelo and Ronaldo meant Real lifted the famous trophy.

Supercopa Final

Another contest against rivals Barcelona, and Ronaldo actually started this contest on the bench but he would turn out to be the match winner. When he came on, the Portuguese international beat Gerard Pique to score an excellent goal. As Los Blancos went on to win 5-1 over 2 legs, this moment was crucial.

Ballon d’Or Wins

In December 2017, Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded his fifth Ballon d’Or trophy, which is given to the best player in the world. Over the course of the year, CR7 scored 42 times in 46 games. This has brought his Ballon d’Or number level with Lionel Messi.

Real Madrid failed to win in La Liga again after conceding a late equaliser away to Levante. It will be incredibly disappointing to everyone involved and boss Zinedine Zidane said that he was ‘disgusted’ with his side after throwing away two points that would have  been vastly important.

It all started well enough though, as Sergio Ramos put Real Madrid in front after just 11 minutes. He headed home and everything looked good for Los Blancos at this point. The lead did not last until half time though, as Emmanuel Boateng followed up on a good save by Keylor Navas to slot the ball into the corner and equalise for Levante.

Real can only have themselves to blame for not putting Levante away, and they missed a number of second half chances, including Cristiano Ronaldo having a shot blocked at close range by Cheick Doukoure. Karim Benzema scuffed a shot wide while Sergio Ramos forced the Levante goalkeeper into a save from the corner.

The game was then on a knife edge up until the 81st minute, and Real Madrid looked to have won it when Isco slotted the ball home to the relief of Real fans everywhere. The good feeling was not going to last though, as Giampaolo Pazzini broke Los Blancos’ hearts. He was played in behind the Real defence and earned Levante a point.

The defence will have to take a lot of the blame as they left both Levante goalscorers unmarked. The club are now without a clean sheet in six La Liga matches.

This result has left the defending champions in 4th place in La Liga and 18 points behind the league leaders Barcelona. This was the sixth draw of the season, having lost four times. Zidane’s side are now only two points clear of 5th place. The pressure will begin to grow on the boss yet again.

How To Watch Real Madrid v Sevilla In Live Streaming

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future has been up in the air for the last few months but it seems like the end of the saga could be near. It is now being reported that the Portuguese superstar is expected to sign a new deal to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, which will be a massive boost to Real Madrid and the fans.

Ronaldo, who recently claimed his fifth Balon d’Or, had been rumoured to have made clear his wish to leave the club previously, with Paris Saint Germain and former club Manchester United interested in his services. That however looks like it will be  put to bed, as Spanish publication ABC suggests a new deal with Real is in the offing.

ABC claim that the new contract will be a very lucrative one for the player, as you would expect. He will reportedly earn £26.5m per year, which would be an increase of almost £8m on his current deal.

The Main Man Stays

The new contract would see Ronaldo earn the same amount of money as Neymar does at PSG. Even though rumours suggested Cristiano was unhappy at Real in previous months, the player himself pledged his future to Los Blancos just last week.

“Of course I like living here. I’ve lived in this city since 2009 and I love the weather and the people.

“It’s close to Portugal and you can get there by car. Spain is a great country, I love it.

“Of course I want to stay here, I love this club.”

Everyone involved with Real Madrid, including Ronaldo himself, will admit that this season has not gone the way that everyone will have planned so far. That being said, the form does appear to be turning around, with a fantastic 4-1 win against Valencia showing that Zinedine Zidane and his men are not going to give up.

Levante v Real Madrid is a great opportunity for Real Madrid to pick up a crucial 3 points, in order to potentially move into the top 3 should Valencia fail to win. Real Madrid are currently one point above 5th placed Villarreal, so the 3 points may also be needed to stay in the top 4 in La Liga.

Levante v Real Madrid Preview

Hosts Levante will be missing a few key players for this contest, some through injury and some through suspension. Centre back Chema is banned but luckily for them Sergio Postigo is himself returning from suspension. Jose Campana is also suspended, meaning that Sasa Lukic is likely to take his place in midfield. Ruben Rochina and Giampaolo Pazzini could play after joining on deadline day.

For Real Madrid, the BBC forward line of Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale will continue in attack. Sergio Ramos and Rafael Varane are both a doubt for the game but hopefully both will be able to feature. If one cannot make it, Nacho will take their place at the back.

Levante v Real Madrid Predicted Lineups

Levante v Real Madrid Betting Tips

  • Real Madrid have won 5, drawn 2 and lost 3 games out of the last 10.
  • In the last 10 games, Levante have scored an average of 0.6 goals and have conceded an average of 1.3 goals.
  • In the last 10 games, Real Madrid have scored an average of 2.1 goals and have conceded an average of 1.2 goals.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 5 of the last 10 Levante games.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 7 of the last 10 Real Madrid games.

Levante v Real Madrid Prediction

Levante are not in good form at all, and the club have only won once in their last 16 La Liga matches. They look in big trouble at the moment and are looking over their shoulder to the relegation zone.

They are struggling to score goals too, having netted just once in their last four home league matches at Estadio Ciutat de Valencia. With Real Madrid next up, it will not be getting any easier.

After a poor run by their high standards, Real Madrid have now won three of their last four matches and have looked pretty good away from home.

If the performance is similar to the game against Valencia CF last week, it should be a comfortable victory for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente has today been linked with a loan move away from the Santiago Bernabeu, with a number of clubs interested in securing his services on a temporary basis. A loan move until the summer would likely benefit all parties but it remains to be seen where the player’s short term future lies.

There is only one more day left of the January transfer window so any move for the player would have to be made very quickly, with a medical and contractual agreements needing to be made. The Spanish publication AS have speculated that English Premier League club Newcastle United are one of the sides that want to take Llorente on a loan deal.

Newcastle are managed by former Los Blancos boss Rafa Benitez so it would be no surprise if The Magpies were interested in the midfielder. The Tyneside club have only made one signing this month and are desperate to bring players in for their fight against possible relegation.

Zidane Not Convinced

It is not just Newcastle United who are reportedly interested though, as Deportivo La Coruna, Alaves and Real Betis have all been linked with the player too. Since Real Madrid exited the Copa Del Rey last week, it is likely that Llorente won’t get many more opportunities in the Real first team this season if he stays at the club.

He has only played 11 times this term, and the reports suggest the club are happy to let him leave on loan. However, both the player himself and boss Zinedine Zidane aren’t convinced that a move away is the right thing for him. If the move is to happen in the next 24 hours or so, things will have to move quickly and both the boss and the player would have to be persuaded that a move is the best thing for the player’s career.

It is no secret that Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has been under a lot of pressure in the last few months after a poor season so far by the club’s high standards. This has led some publications to link other managers to the Santiago Bernabeu, with one in particular becoming more and more prominent.

According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochetino is the number one choice to replace Zinedine Zidane should the club decide to make a change. According to the Daily Mail, officials from Real Madrid have made contact with associates of Pochettino to see if he would be interested in the move.

Their sources have suggested that the former Argentina international would be interested in the Los Blancos job too. His current contract at Spurs is due to run until June 2021 and there is reportedly no release clause. This of course means that Real would likely have to pay a big fee to secure his services.

A Move Will Not Be Easy

As Real Madrid will know from signing a few players from the club in the past, Tottenham do not sell any of their assets easily. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is notorious for being a tough negotiator so it will be interesting to see how this develops.

Spurs are expected to do everything they possibly can to keep hold of Pochettino and are expected to reject any approaches for their head coach. The club are due to move into their new stadium in the next few years and will hope to have Poch in charge when they do.

As well as the possibility of a new manager, Real Madrid have been linked with a number of players too, such as Neymar, Eden Hazard and Robert Lewandowski. The landscape of the club could be drastically changed by the end of the summer.

Real Madrid were under a lot of pressure to pick up a result against Valencia at the Mestalla, and the players and staff all delivered in what could be the turning point of the season. Real ended up taking the victory by a comfortable 1-4 margin, which should give the team a lot of confidence going into a crucial couple of months.

The victory saw Real, who still sit in 4th place, close the gap on 3rd placed Valencia to just 2 points, with Los Blancos still having a game in hand. The gap to the league leaders is still 16 points, but this match was a big step in the right direction.

Real Madrid started the game well, and they took just 16 minutes to take the lead. Cristiano Ronaldo has received some criticism in the last few months but he was crucial in this contest. The Portuguese superstar was fouled in the box and unsurprisingly converted the penalty himself to put his side in front.

The game was in the balance until the 38th minute, when Real were given another penalty after a push on Karim Benzema. Ronaldo stepped up yet again to double Los Blancos’ lead in the game. Valencia didn’t give up though, and they pulled a goal back just before the hour mark through Santi Mina.

The hosts then gave it a good go in looking for an equaliser, but Real ended all doubt when Marcelo got forward and added a third goal in the 84th minute. Toni Kroos then put the icing on the cake by scoring a fourth for Real Madrid with an excellent long range strike just a minute before the end of the game.

Real boss Zinedine Zidane stated that the Copa Del Rey defeat to Leganes was his worst moment in football management, but this will have gone a long way in easing the pressure on him.
