Real Madrid president spoke in a long interview with the Spanish radiostation Cadena SER and Florentino Pérez spoke about Gareth Bale, Isco, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane or Kylian Mbappé. It’s always interesting to hear his opinion about this transfer market.

Gareth Bale was booed by the supporters against Valencia and there were a lot of rumours about his possible departure to Manchester: “Bale is one of the great players we currently have and we’re happy with him. There weren’t offers for him and Mourinho said what he said in a friendly way. Now we’re not selling and after one year we’ll see. [..] Last year he had a very important injury and it was fatal. The problem is that now complaining about Bale is a sport. I don’t know if it’s because people want to complain about Bale or about me”.

The president also spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo and his intention of leaving the club: “I don’t know what happened. There was an information from A Bola… There weren’t any topics to talk about during the summer, so people spoke. He was angry because the fiscal issue, but I didn’t get that he wanted to leave. He said he was happy here. At Monaco he was very clear, he is happy at Real Madrid. Cristiano will play on Wednesday in the Champions and we only have to see how he started the season”.

Part of the success of the team is due to Zinedine Zidane: “Currently, we are living a great time and Zinedine Zidane is very important. He has a great integrity and the players now he is very fair. He never asked me a pay rise. He didn’t speak to me about money, not even when we signed him from Juventus”, Florentino said.

Another important announcement to be done is the renewal of Isco’s contract: “Isco came here very young and he has only improved since then. What we thought he could be, he’s achieving it. We’re going to announce his renewal very soon. His renewal is closed. If I had paid attention to the ones who said we should have sold Isco, we’ll now be disgraced”, Florentino said.

Marco Asensio is also highlighting in the team, like Isco: “I don’t remember his release clause, but he wouldn’t leave Real Madrid not even if he had a €10M clause because he’s happy here. He’s a great player. He scores superb goals, but also in the training sessions. He’s perfectly tied by Real Madrid and he’s very happy here”.

Finally, Florentino Pérez spoke about the transfer market and Mbappé, his target during the summer: “He chose PSG because he was born in Paris. We talked, but I don’t know if it was the right time to bring him here and disturb the atmosphere in the dressing room. Finally, it happened something normal: Mbappé is from París and PSG wanted him…”.

Zinedine Zidane spoke in press conference about the next game against Levante after the international break, a dangerous fixture before starting the Champions League on Wednesday against APOEL.

Spain is living strange days, because Cataluña has started a process of independance. If this is successfull, FC Barcelona will be part of another country, so they won’t play La Liga. Zidane gave his opinion: “I don’t see La Liga without Barcelona. As football fan, I always watch this league. But it’s a complicated debate what is going to happen or not”.

Zidane is quite happy after the international break, although we don’t know yet if he’s going to make many changes: “The best news is that we didn’t have many injury concerns, apart from Dani Ceballos. The others are ready and these are the best news for a coach”.

The manager also spoke very well about his players, now that the transfer market is closed: “The new squad can always improve the old one. We can always improve. Besides, this is even younger and it has a lot of future and the president said the same”.

The French coach didn’t say if Asensio, Isco or Bale will play against Levante, but he has many choices: “They have always been important to me [Isco and Asensio]. Both and all the other players. The formation and the players are going to change always and the main thing is that they feel important”.

He also spoke about the good moment of Asensio and his great performances: “I’m not surprised. What he gives to the team is great but we should leave him in peace and quite. He can still improve a lot, but with humble and quite. It’s important that he feels this way and has a cold mind”.

Finally, he commented Bale’s situation: “No player is happy when he’s booed, but I see him well. Not that bad like people said. He’s going to do play well this year”, Zidane finished.

Other players like Kiko Casilla, Kovacic or Lucas Vázquez could have their minutes in this game. Cristiano Ronaldo is still suspended, whereas Jesús Vallejo and Dani Ceballos have physical problems.

Levante are a newly promoted team, but they’ve started great the season. They were able to beat Villarreal in the first game and drew against Deportivo (2-2) coming back after a 0-2. Morales is suspended and Martí is injured, so both will miss the game.

Real Madrid v Levante Prediction

These kind of games after the international break are always tricky, but Zidane found the formula to win them by rotating the squad. We expect something similar, especially with their debut in the Champions League behind the corner, against APOEL. For this reason, we expect Los Blancos to win quite easily the game and not conceding any goal. Levante don’t have a great offensive line, especially without Morales in the line-up.
The last time Levante visited Santiago Bernabéu was in 2015 and they lost 3-0. Los Blancos won also away that season (1-3).

Florentino Pérez doesn’t want unpleasant surprises and he’s working to avoid them. This summer, FC Barcelona supporters were shocked when PSG were able to sign Neymar Junior, leaving the club in a crisis. Only some weeks later, the French team also bought Mbappé, spending €180M. Right now, these teams are able to tempt any player, so Florentino Pérez wants to avoid this and he’s designing ironclad contracts.

Manchester City and PSG are owned by powerful men who are able to spend huge amount of money for any player. Al-Khelafi bought Neymar for €224M and Mbappé for €180M breaking every record in this transfer market. For this reason, no player is safe now for this temptation and Real Madrid need to keep their stars out of the radar of these owners.

Florentino Pérez was full aware of this when he bought Bale, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo. All of them have a release clause set in €1000M, so any team will have to negotiate with Los Blancos if they want to hire any BBC member.

The president is working to get these deals with the youngsters. Isco has to announce his renewal agreement and his new release clause will be set at €400M. Luka Modric, Toni Kroos or Dani Ceballos signed a clause of €500M. Dani Carvajal or Marco Asensio, the new star, have €350M. Other important players like Casemiro, Nacho, Marcelo or Varane are ironclad with €200M.

Some years ago, Real Madrid were about to lose Sergio Ramos, who didn’t want to renew his contract and spoke with Manchester United. Finally, the deal wasn’t closed and the captain remained with Los Blancos but it was a call of attention for Real Madrid bosses. Since then, they’ve been trying to avoid these situation, renewing their players in advance and setting high release clauses. The next one should be Isco, who should stay with Los Blancos after some months of mystery.

After the international break, it’s good time to rotate some players in the line-up and give some rest to some key footballers who arrive tired after their games with their national teams. For this reason, before starting the defense of the Champions League title on Wednesday, perhaps Zinedine Zidane decides to rotate some players in the line-up.

Real Madrid host Levante in the midday fixture on Saturday. It should be an easy game against a newly promoted squad, although Levante obtained 4 points in the first two games. For this reason and taking in consideration that the Champions League start on Wednesday for Los Blancos against APOEL, some important players might watch the game on the bench.

For instance, Keylor Navas and Casemiro missed the training session on Wednesday because they were travelling from South America. Kiko Casilla could be the goalie, whereas Marcos Llorente could have his opportunity as a stopper, giving Casemiro some rest. Marcelo went back before because he was suspended, but Theo Hernández could play instead of the Brazilian, so Marcelo is fresh to play against APOEL.

In the midfield, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric played all the minutes with their national teams. The Croatian midfielder, especially, played tough games and Zidane doesn’t want to risk with him. So Kovacic could occupy his position because Dani Ceballos has some physical problems.

Karim Benzema should lead the attacking line after not being called by Deschamps. Bale played the 180 minutes with Wales, so he might need to rest. It could be also a good opportunity for Mayoral to gain confidence. Asensio and Isco should be as well in the starting eleven because both could rest a bit in the game against Liechtenstein. Lucas Vázquez didn’t play with Spain, so he should be included in the line-up.

Luckily, Zidane has a great squad available this season and he is a master in handling it. He showed it last season, where he gave opportunities to everybody. With the James and Morata’s departure, the quality is lower, but there are still enough good players to rotate and keep the level.

Álvaro Morata played again at Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday against Italy and he was able to score one goal despite starting the game on the bench, a usual spot for him in this stadium. It was a special match for him, going back to his home only some weeks after leaving Spain to play for Chelsea. Perhaps, Los Blancos are already regretting this sale after seeing what happened against Valencia and the level showed by the Spaniard in this start of the season.

It was a hard decision to make, but Morata was very sure about leaving Madrid. Florentino Pérez and Zinedine Zidane wanted him to stay, but the forward was eager of more minutes and Antonio Conte promised him to be the star of his new Chelsea. Therefore, Real Madrid had to sell and they put a high price of €80M. Deal done.

However, some weeks later Real Madrid might already be regretting this deal. Morata started the season with Chelsea with 2 goals in his first 3 games in the Premier League and he showed a similar level with Spain against Italy and Liechtenstein. In the meantime, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale struggled to find the net with Los Blancos missing many chances against Valencia.

On top of that, Real Madrid have not signed any forward during the summer. Borja Mayoral went back from his loan at Wolfsburg, but the U-21 doesn’t seem to have the level to replace Morata. The club also sold Mariano Díaz to Olympique Lyonnais, with a buy-back clause, so Los Blancos are weaker in this position.

Cristiano Ronaldo should be the chosen one to score the goals with Los Blancos, but his five-games ban have left a big blank in the attacking line. It wasn’t Real Madrid choice, but perhaps they should have put more effort on keeping Morata and not letting him go to another top club. Did Morata deserve more opportunities with Zidane?

Many Real Madrid players are going back to the Spanish capital after playing with their national teams these last days. Some of them shone in the qualification games of the World Cup and some other will have to suffer to get the ticket for Russia.

The best Real Madrid player this week was Isco Alarcón. The playmaker astonished the world with his performance against Italy scoring two goals. He was able to find the net again in the thrashing victory of Spain against Liechtenstein (0-8). Sergio Ramos opened the scoreboard with a header. This time, Dani Carvajal and Asensio had some rest, whereas Nacho Fernández played the second half.

Gareth Bale was also an important player with his national team these days. Wales won both games against Austria (1-0) and Moldova (0-2) and they are now second in their group, gaining options to go to Russia. However, the Real Madrid player couldn’t score in both games.

Cristiano Ronaldo was able to score a hat-trick in the victory (5-1) against Faroe Island, including a great volley. He played the 90 minutes against Hungary (0-1) and gave the assist in the goal of André Silva.

Marcelo could go back to the Spanish capital earlier, so he missed the game against Colombia (1-1) because he was suspended. Casemiro was on the Brazilian bench after playing 90 minutes against Ecuador (2-0).

Keylor Navas also had to travel a lot of kilometers to face USA and Mexico. The goalkeeper was very important in the historic victory in the United States (0-2) and he helped Costa Rica to draw (1-1) against Mexico.

Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic started the game against Turkey (1-0), but they couldn’t get a point, so the qualification get tougher for Croatia. Modric played all the minutes in both fixtures against Kosovo and Turkey. Toni Kroos also played both games with Germany (1-2) against Czech Republic and Norway (6-0).

Finally, Achraf scored his first goal with Morocco against (6-0) Mali, whereas Mayoral and Ceballos played with the Spanish national team under-21. Federico Valverde, currently on loan at Deportivo la Coruña, scored a very important goal with Uruguay against (1-2) Paraguay.

Varane-Sevilla_GI

Fabio Coentrao, Pepe and Danilo left the club this summer leaving some space in the defense line. Real Madrid signed Theo Hernández in the left-back and bring back Jesús Vallejo from Germany to cover a spot in the full-back position. However, Zinedine Zidane might face a lot of problems in the defense line if the injuries show up during a long season.

We could see this risk in the game against Valencia. Raphael Varane and Jesús Vallejo were injured and Sergio Ramos was suspended, so Casemiro had to play as a full back and Real Madrid suffered. Los Blancos didn’t defend as well as they used to and Valencia had several chances in the counter attack. This is something that could happen again during the season.

In his time at Real Madrid, Raphael Varane has suffered several physical problems, so it’s very likely that this happen again. The same situation faces Jesús Vallejo, who was injured a lot of time last season at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Besides, Daniel Carvajal is the only right back in the squad after Danilo’s departure. If the Spaniard needs to rest or he’s injured, Nacho Fernández will be the chosen one to play in this position, but Zidane would lose a great full back. The other option is giving the opportunity to Achraf Hakimi, but he’s still too young and playing with Castilla. Despite his age, he might have his options with Los Blancos because he’s gaining some experience little by little and, for instance, he scored this week his first goal with his national team, Morocco.

At least, Zinedine Zidane has improved the squad with the changes in the defense line. Theo Hernández is younger and better than Fabio Coentrao. Jesús Vallejo has a lot of future, although Real Madrid might miss the experience of Pepe. And Danilo made a lot of mistakes in right back, but he has no substitute. For all these reasons, Real Madrid might face an eventual problem during this long season in the defense line.

Gareth Bale is fighting this week to get a spot in the next World Cup in Russia with his national team. Wales beat Austria (1-0) and they continue in the race to get the qualification. In the meantime, the rumours about his future are spreading across the United Kingdom, with Manchester United keeping a close eye.

According to The Sun, Manchester United are still interested in the Welshman and they will try to sign him in the future. José Mourinho is obsessed with getting him on board on his project with the Red Devils and he could be the next star in Old Trafford.

Last year, Manchester United signed Paul Pogba, setting a new transfer fee record. This summer they got Romelu Lukaku from Everton, his new star. The next year the idea is getting Gareth Bale in the team, especially if his situation at Real Madrid doesn’t change.

Mourinho admitted publicly this summer that he’s keen to sign Bale: “I’ll fight for him if there is an option”, the Portuguese said before facing Los Blancos in the United States. However, Bale closed the door immediately saying that he’s very happy in Spain and he has never thought about joining Manchester United.

However, the Welshman is facing a lot of criticism in these first weeks of the season where he has not found the net, apart from the easy goal at Riazor. He had to listen whistles in the last game at Santiago Bernabéu while Asensio or Isco are the new idols of the supporters.

There are still many months to change his situation and Bale showed in the past that he’s a great player. He was one of the most important players in the squad when he joined the club, scoring goals in the final of Copa del Rey against FC Barcelona or in the Champions League against Atlético Madrid.

KeylorNavas-Deportivo-GI

Keylor Navas was heavily criticized last season when he committed a couple of important mistakes, including conceding an early goal against Napoli from a long distance shot or the goal scored by Arturo Vidal against Bayern Munich after a corner kick. However, Zinedine Zidane gave him confidence and he’s back at a great level this season.

The Costa Rican goalkeeper was also very important in the last games of the last season. After facing criticizing and some booes from Real Madrid supporters, he made a couple of good saves in the Champions League final -especially a shot from Pjanic– and was a key player in the final games of the season in La Liga.

Navas has also started great this season. In the Spanish Supercup he only conceded a goal from a from the penalty spot but saved many chances. In La Liga, he even saved a penalty against Deportivo la Coruña and against Valencia he made great save in free kicked shot by Dani Parejo.

His good level is also been seen with his national team. Costa Rica obtained a great victory against USA in the North American qualification group for the World Cup (0-2). Navas was one of the best players of the team, including a superb save after a shot from Bradley.

The next game with Real Madrid will be very special for him. Navas will go back to Levante’s ground, where he shone and won the right to play at Real Madrid. However, his last game with Costa Rica will be on Wednesday (3:05, UK Time) against Mexico. Navas will arrive to the Spanish capital on Wednesday evening and Real Madrid host Levante on Saturday afternoon (12:00, UK Time). Therefore, it’s very likely that Zidane gives Casilla the opportunity to play that game and Navas will rest on the bench to be ready for the Champions League debut against APOEL.
