Real Madrid’s laboured start to the season leaves them with an uphill struggle in the title race. They currently trail leaders Barcelona by 8 points in La Liga, meaning that a shot at glory is effectively out of their hands. Barcelona must slip up considerably between now and the end of the season, if Real Madrid are to lift the trophy.

There is a lot of football still to be played, after all we are not yet at the winter break. However, it’s fair to say that Los Blancos have not played at anywhere near their best. This could be seen as a blessing in disguise, as it’s better to peak during the run in at the back end of the season.

While it’s mathematically possible to win the league, Real Madrid will fight on. But Real Madrid will make history if they pull it off. They have never clawed their way back from an 8 point deficit but records are made to be broken and Zinedine Zidane will be hoping to do just that.

El Clasico Matches Will Settle Title Race

Andy Bell from freebets.org says that the two El Clasico matches against Barcelona will be pivotal in the La Liga title race. The arch-rivals first meet at the Bernabeu on December 23rd, before locking horns again at Camp Nou on May 6th 2018, with only two further games remaining.

If Real can defeat Barcelona in Madrid, then it will set up a thrilling second half of the season. A draw or loss for Los Blancos would probably make it too hard for them to catch Barca. With the expectation that the sides will more or less match each other across the remaining games of the season, it could all boil down to the match in Catalonia.

As things stand, Real Madrid will probably need to win both El Clasico encounters to pip Barcelona to the title. At the time of writing, they can be backed at odds of 4/1 with most bookmakers to lift their 34th La Liga trophy.

Real Madrid Interested In David Luiz?

Reports this week are suggesting that Real Madrid may be interested in a move for Chelsea defender David Luiz when the January transfer window opens in around a month’s time.

The reason why Luiz could be up for sale is due to the fact that he has fallen out with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and was frozen out of the team for a while. The issue came after Luiz’s reaction to being substituted in the Champions League match against Roma at Stamford Bridge.

There are a few possible destinations for him. Barcelona is the most likely according to bookmakers with a price of 3.50. Juventus is priced at 5.00 and Real Madrid and PSG are also possibilities at 6.50. All odds are supplied by My Betting Sites.

Zidane Looking For New Players

European champions Real Madrid have begun to draw up a list of targets for the January transfer window. Following a rather disappointing summer window, it is crucial that the club get this one right and bring some quality players in, so that Los Blancos can challenge for La Liga and the Champions League.

Real manager Zinedine Zidane has admitted that the club could be looking for new players in January and David Luiz would fit the bill. The former PSG defender had been training alone after falling out with Antonio Conte and sat out a few Premier League games. He did return for the Champions League contest against Qarabag though.

Luiz is currently out with a slight knee injury and it remains to be seen whether or not Chelsea will agree to sell the man that was named in the PFA Team of the Year for last season, when the Blues won the Premier League title.

The Brazilian has 18 months left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and it would likely take a bid close to the £34 million that Chelsea paid to Paris Saint-Germain back in 2016.

Real Madrid v Fuenlabrada gives Los Blancos the opportunity to rest some of the key players ahead of further La Liga and Champions League matches. Real Madrid lead Fuenlabrada 2-0 from the first leg and will look to go through comfortably.

Real Madrid v Fuenlabrada Preview

Real Madrid were firmly in control in the first meeting and that has given manager Zinedine Zidane the opportunity to rest several of his key players for this second leg against the side from the Spanish Second Division B. Gareth Bale is likely to play a part in the match and there should be plenty of youngsters in the starting 11.

Bale has been out since the Champions League win away to Borussia Dortmund at the end of September but this is the perfect match for him to make his return. Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema have all yet to play in the same match this season and that will continue here, as Cristiano and Karim are not in the squad. Sergio Ramos remains sidelined with a broken nose.

Real Madrid v Fuenlabrada Predicted Lineups

Real Madrid (4-3-3): Navas; Theo, Varane, Nacho, Achraf; Kovacic, Llorente, Ceballos; Vasquez, Mayoral, Bale

Fuenlabrada (4-3-3): Pol; Iribas, Díaz, Armando, García; Milla, Sanz, Cristobal; Fraile, Dioni, Quero

Real Madrid v Fuenlabrada Betting Tips

  • Real Madrid have won 6, drawn 2 and lost 2 out of the last 10.
  • Fuenlabrada have won 7, drawn 2 and lost 1 out of the last 10.
  • In the last 10 games, Real Madrid have scored an average of 2.2 goals and have conceded an average of 0.9 goals.
  • In the last 10 games, Fuenlabrada have scored an average of 1.4 goals and have conceded an average of 0.7 goals.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 7 of the last 10 Real Madrid games.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 3 of the last 10 Fuenlabrada games.

Real Madrid v Fuenlabrada Prediction

This is a match that Real Madrid are expected to win comfortably, even with many of the star players being rested for the contest. It is also a great opportunity for some Real players to return to fitness, including Gareth Bale and Keylor Navas. Los Blancos have some very exciting youngsters too and it will be great to see them get a chance here.

The first leg saw Real win by two goals to nil, after penalties from Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez. It wasn’t the greatest performance ever, but it really didn’t need to be. I am sure Zinedine Zidane would take something similar for the second leg, though he will be hoping for more goals.

It was confirmed yesterday that Gareth Bale will feature against Fuenlabrada in the Copa del Rey and Zinedine Zidane is tipped to go with a blend of youth and experience this evening. With El Classico less than a month away, the Frenchman is wary of his key players picking up any injuries and that means a chance to impress for some of the club’s youngsters.

The tie is already in Real Madrid’s favour, with a 2-0 aggregate lead. With the greatest of respect to Fuenlabrada, it’s doubtful that the deficit will be overturned, even against a second string side. This makes it the ideal opportunity to try out some of Real’s young guns.

Real Madrid Predicted Lineup v Fuenlabrada

Keylor Navas didn’t feature against Malaga but is expected to make his comeback between the sticks here. He’ll have Raphael Varane and Nacho in front of him as a solid centre-back pairing. 19-year-old right-back Achraf Hakimi has played six times for Los Blancos and is tipped to start this evening. On the opposite side of defence Theo Hernandez will make his tenth appearance for the club.

In midfield, Mateo Kovacevic has recently returned to full fitness and will benefit from some first team football. 22-year-old defensive midfielder Marcos Llorente has returned from a loan to Alaves and is set to make his sixth appearance. Dani Ceballos, pricey acquisition from Real Betis, made his third start in the first leg and is expected to make the lineup here. He recently bagged a hat-trick for Spain U21’s and will be keen to try and nail down a first-team slot

Gareth Bale will occupy the right-hand side of an attacking three but isn’t expected to play the full 90 minutes. Lucas Vasquez will come in on the left flank and Mayoral who scored on his only other start, will lead the line for the home side. And that completes our predicted lineup.

Real Madrid (4-3-3 Formation): Navas; Theo, Varane, Nacho, Achraf; Kovacic, Llorente, Ceballos; Vasquez, Mayoral, Bale

Gareth Bale is set to return from injury in the Real Madrid v Fuenlabrada Copa del Rey clash on Tuesday night. It is not yet clear whether the Welshman will be named in the starting XI or come off the bench but head coach Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that he will have some involvement.

Bale has been sidelined since the match against Borussia Dortmund on September 26th. He was initially out with a calf problem, before his rehabilitation suffered a setback and he injured his hamstring. His fitness struggles mean that he has missed the last 11 matches for Real Madrid but after resuming training last week, he is set to make his long-awaited return.

Having only started eight matches this season, Bale is yet to make the starting lineup alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in 2017-18. Madridistas will be hopeful that he can now play a part in the important run of winter fixtures, culminating with El Clasico against Barcelona at the Bernabeu on December 23rd.

Real Madrid go into Tuesday’s cup match with a 2-0 aggregate lead. Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez both scored penalties to give Los Blancos the advantage in the Copa del Rey fourth round tie. In what should be a relatively low-key affair, it could be the ideal match for Bale to make his comeback.

Next up in La Liga is a what looks a very winnable trip to face Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, before Real Madrid play their final Champions League group game against Borussia Dortmund next Wednesday, with qualification for the last 16 already assured. The following weekend Real play host to Sevilla before jetting off to Abu Dhabi for the Club World Cup.

Real Madrid’s hard-fought 3-2 victory over Malaga coupled with the 1-1 draw between Valencia and Barcelona has given Los Blancos a way back into the La Liga title race. The gap to Barca now stands at eight points and there is quiet optimism that Real may close the gap further before El Clasico on December 23rd.

Zinedine Zidane can feasibly field a shadow side against Fuenlabrada in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday night, with Real Madrid already holding a 2-0 advantage. Looking ahead to the next league game, Athletic Bilbao are out of form and have won just once in their last ten La Liga matches. Meanwhile, Barcelona will be wary of free-scoring Celta Vigo which could be a potential banana skin.

Barca have drawn two matches in a row and are not yet assured top-spot in their Champions League group. This means that they are likely to field a full-strength side against Sporting while Real Madrid pretty much know they are going to finish second, so can rest key players against Dortmund. Barcelona then travel to face Villarreal who are a strong side at home, while Real Madrid welcome Sevilla who have lost five of their last seven away matches at the time of writing.

After that, Real Madrid head to Abu Dhabi to take part in the Club World Cup, with a maximum of two fixtures to be played. They join the competition at the semi-final stage on December 13th and the final is scheduled for December 16th. Again, Zidane is likely to use the games to experiment and rotate his squad while Barcelona must play Deportivo la Coruña in La Liga.

It’s fair to say that Real Madrid have a more favourable run of fixtures between now and El Clasico. There is every chance that Barcelona will drop points and if Real Madrid can win all of their La Liga matches, then they could apply some pressure on their arch-rivals.

In a dramatic night at the Bernabeu, Real Madrid eventually saw off a resilient Malaga side that had twice equalised. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the decisive goal with fifteen minutes remaining, firing home a rebound after his penalty was initially saved. The result means that Real Madrid have at least put some pressure on Valencia and Barcelona who go head to head tonight. Los Blancos have though, slipped to fourth as Atletico Madrid thrashed Levante 5-0 and now have a better goal difference.

The match began with Real Madrid on the attack and it wasn’t long before the first goal came. Moments after Cristiano Ronaldo had struck the crossbar with a headed effort, Karim Benzema was on hand to tap into an open goal from close range on 9 minutes. Zinedine Zidane’s men seemed to relax a little after the goal and invited pressure. Malaga striker Diego Rolan was quickest to react to a misplaced pass and levelled for the visitors on 18 minutes. Los Boquerones were soon behind again though, with Casemiro heading home from a Toni Kroos corner on 21 minutes.

It stayed that way until half-time and after the break it looked as if Real Madrid were happy to sit on their lead. That plan backfired on 59 minutes, when Gonzalo Castro hit a speculative effort from distance which caught out Kiko Casilla, the Real Madrid stopper only able to parry the ball into his own net. It set up a grandstand finish, as Los Blancos pushed and probed for a winner. Then came a lifeline when Luis Hernandez barged over Luka Modric in the box for the late penalty. CR7 is usually Mr Reliable but it almost went pear-shaped. Malaga goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez pulled off a good save from the spot-kick but the ball fell kindly for Ronaldo and he didn’t miss.

The main thing is that no points were dropped but it was another far from convincing display. Real Madrid made heavy weather of this match and may not get away with such complacency in future games. On a positive note, both Benzema and Ronaldo finally scored again in La Liga.

Gareth Bale

After constantly being linked with a move to Manchester United, Gareth Bale is just focusing on getting back to full fitness as a Real Madrid player. He has also been backed by his manager, as Zinedine Zidane has stated this week that the Welshman is still  important to the team.

Recent months have been extremely frustrating for both Bale and the club, as he has been hampered with injury for quite a while now, which has forced him down the pecking order even when he is fit to play. He has missed 40 of Real Madrid’s last 60 games in La Liga and has not featured since late September after picking up another muscle problem.

The interest from Manchester United does seem genuine this time, but the Real Madrid manager seems like he wants to hold on to the former Tottenham Hotspur player.

He’s An Important Player For Us

Speaking about the situation, Zidane had this to say:

“We know what Gareth can give us,

Many things. He is very strong, fast, technically very good, works very hard.

He’s an important player for us and he knows that. The important thing is that we have to get him back into shape and ready to play.”

Even though he has been in and out of the side due to injury, Bale has still managed to make eight appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring three goals.

Though he has had some struggles recently, we must not forget that the Welsh international has been a very important player for Los Blancos since arriving from London back in 2013. Bale has played 159 times for the club since his move from Spurs, scoring 70 goals and providing 55 assists in the famous white shirt.

We will wait and see whether Manchester United make a bid, but the key thing right now is that Bale recovers from injury and is back to 100%.

Eden Hazard Has 'Admiration' For Los Blancos

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has been back to his best in recent weeks and this may have attracted the attention of Real Madrid once again. There has been constant speculation over the last few years that the Belgian international will eventually end up at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It would appear that the man himself has refused to rule out the move happening too, even going as far as saying he has ‘admiration’ for Real Madrid in an interview with French TV channel CanalPlus. Any potential move would not take place until summer 2018 at the earliest as he would like to see the season out with Chelsea first.

It could be a busy summer for Real Madrid, as Adrien Rabiot seems to be a big target too. It could be said that the club are currently paying the price for not spending enough money in the summer just gone, and this is part of the reason when Los Blancos find themselves 10 points off the top of La Liga.

Mutual Admiration

It is not just Hazard that admires Real though, as manager Zinedine Zidane has gone on record to say that he admires Eden Hazard too. It is reported that Zidane even recommended that Real Madrid should sign the player way back in 2010 when he was still a Lille player.

The Belgian has a contract with English Premier League side Chelsea until 2020 but that will certainly not stop the speculation from happening. In the interview with CanalPlus, Hazard said:

“For the moment, I want to finish this year. Everyone knows the admiration I have for Real, but for the moment, I’m a Blue. And each year people have said things, and each year I have stayed at my club.”

Stating recently that it would be a dream to work under Zidane, a man that he has admired since he was a young child, a big money move to the Bernabeu could be on the cards next summer.

You can find a full preview for the match here, and this is a match that Los Blancos go into as massive favourites to win. The players should be full of confidence after thrashing APOEL 6-0 in the Champions League through the week so Malaga will be wary of the threat Real Madrid will pose.

Cristiano Ronaldo added two goals to his tally in that game and will be hoping to fire in La Liga after famously struggling so far, when compared to his usual high standards. Los Blancos need the win here in order to keep pace with Barcelona and Valencia, who meet each other in a crucial game on Sunday. Sergio Ramos will miss the game but hopefully his absence won’t be felt too greatly.
