The French manager spoke in press conference before facing Granada in La Liga. Another step more to win the title: “There are few games remaining and we know that these are three very important points. We’re going to give everything on the pitch”, Zidane warned the rival.

However, the most important words came when he was asked about Mbappé after the front page of Marca, where they say that the player agreed to play with Los Blancos: “He almost signed for Real Madrid… but it didn’t happen finally. Zizou also demanded the Golden Ball for Cristiano Ronaldo: “I see it that way. The credit is his. He’s close to the next one, yes”. The manager also confirmed that the Portuguese will rest again: “I speak a lot with Cristiano and he knows himself a lot. He knows that until now, he’s played 60-70 games so he needs to rest a bit. I’m not the coach who has put Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench. I know that players need to rest. If everyone wants to arrive until the end at their top they have to rest”.

Zidane also confirmed that Pepe won’t join the group yet: “Fabio is going to be with us. Pepe is fine and he’ll be with us the next week. Varane had some problems and we don’t want to risk”.

Florentino Pérez is searching for his new Galáctico this summer and now the player with more odds to land at Santiago Bernabéu is Kylian Mbappé. The Spanish newspaper Marca, the most popular in Spain, published on Friday in their front page that Mbappé agreed to join Real Madrid and he’ll do the effort to put some pressure on Mónaco bosses to sign with the Spanish giants.

Mbappè’s main reason is Zinedine Zidane. Zizou tried to sign him some years ago to play with the youngsters of Real Madrid but the deal couldn’t be sealed. However, Zidane’s admiration for the striker continues and he’s the preferred one by the manager. Mbappé knows it and he thinks he can play at his best with Zizou on the bench. The other reason is the way Los Blancos approached the player, talking with his family and showing a very interesting plan.

Real Madrid have a lot of competitors in the race to sign Mbappé. The main one is Manchester United, who already offered €100M to get him on board but Monaco rejected the bid. PSG are also interested in the French striker, but they are about to sign Aubameyang, one of the options Los Blancos had to reinforce the attacking line. With the bid rejected coming from Manchester, Florentino knows that he would need to spend a record transfer fee if Real Madrid want to tie Mbappé.

According to the Spanish press, the French striker has overtaken Eden Hazard in the race to sign a Galáctico. If Florentino Pérez finally decides to spend a lot of money to sign a player, some star should leave the club. The worst news about the first leg of the semi-finals of the Champions League between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid was the injury of Daniel Carvajal, doubtlessly the best right back in Europe. The club has still to confirm the length of the injury but it’s very likely that the Spaniard will miss the rest of the season.

Carvajal got injured at the end of the first half. After jumping to head the ball, he noticed the pain in the right thigh. He couldn’t continue and Carvajal was replaced by Nacho in the half time. Nacho didn’t suffer in this position and he played great actually, defending Filipe Luis and Ferreira Carrasco in his side of the pitch.

Zinedine Zidane has to decide how to replace Carvajal in the next few games. He has a person in this position in the squad, but Danilo has shown that he shouldn’t be trusted in important games. The Brazilian performances are getting better in the last weeks and he’s having many minutes in La Liga, but it’s very unlikely that Zizou decides to put him in the line-up in the Champions League.

Now that Raphael Varane is recovered and Pepe is also training with the rest of the team, we should think that Nacho will be the chosen one to play in this position. The Spanish full back was the defense with more minutes during the month of April and he is untouchable for Zizou. In this new position of right back he can also be very competitive and help the team to win the two titles remaining.

However, Real Madrid supporters will miss Carvajal. The right back started the season with a superb goal in the extra time of the European Supercup against Sevilla, bringing the title to Madrid. Then, he made an amazing assist to Benzema in the Champions League against Napoli and played really well against Bayern Munich. He’s level is improving season by season and no one doubts about his importance.

The stats show that Los Blancos can overcome this fatality. Carvajal has missed 12 games this season in La Liga and Champions League and Real Madrid won all of them. Patrick-Emerick Aubameyang was one of the Real Madrid targets for the summer. However, the Borussia Dortmund striker won’t play in La Liga the next season and it’s very likely that he ends up playing in France.

According to the German newspaper Bild, Aubameyang is very close to sign a new contract with French giants PSG. The African player will join the French club for a three year contract, earning €14M for each season. The salary would be much higher than his current one, €8M in Germany.

Aubameyang’s dream was to play at Real Madrid. He said it several times, even when Borussia Dortmund visited Santiago Bernabéu early this season in the Champions League because his grandfather was a strong Real Madrid fan. However, according to Bild, the player has understood that the signing is very difficult, so he’s looking to move to somewhere else.

Patrick Kluivert, currently working for PSG, has already met Aubameyang and the agreement would very close to be sealed. The French club would pay around €60M or €70M to Borussia Dortmund. AC Milan were also interested in the striker but the fact that the team won’t play the Champions League the next season was very important.

PSG were also having a close eye on Alexis Sánchez, but the price of the Chilean striker would be even higher, so they’ve chosen Aubameyang to lead the attacking line next season together with Edinson Cavani. Actually, how the Uruguayan and the Gabonese would fit together is the big question mark in this operation.

PSG are finishing a terrible season in the first year under the management of Unai Emery. They were knocked out of the Champions League by a shocking 6-1 defeat at Camp Nou and they won’t win the title in the Ligue One, because Monaco have a very good advantage in the end of the season. Therefore, the team needs to go again to the market and reinforce the squad with the goal of fighting for the Champions League next year.

Keylor Navas (9): The Costa Rican goalkeeper didn’t have a lot of work on Tuesday but he saved a great chance with Kevin Gameiro in the first half. Besides, he was very secure during the clash.

Carvajal (7): Unfortunately for the Spanish right back, he got injured at the end of the first half. He suffered a bit in defence and lost more balls than usual. However, he’s always a very important player and the first chance of the game was thanks to him.

Varane (9): He was perfect in the defense line. Griezmann or Gameiro couldn’t pass him during the game. Besides, he almost scored the second goal with a header.

Sergio Ramos (8): He always shines in the big games. This time, he didn’t find Oblak’s goal but didn’t have many problems in the defense. He was quick and secure. The captain never fails.

Marcelo (8): He created many problems in his wing, especially with Lucas Hernández defended him when he’s not used to play as a right back.

Zinedine Zidane spoke in press conference after the great game played by his team in the first leg of the semi-finals against Atlético Madrid. The manager wanted to be cautious: “It’s not decided. Simeone is right. Today we played well, we prepared the game, knowing their strength and ours. We’ve been better. The 3-0 means that we played a great game, but we know we are going to suffer in the second leg. For sure”, the manager said.

However, the French coach couldn’t be happier: “I don’t know if this has been my best game, but it was a great match. It’s not easy to score three goals.
