Álvaro Morata spoke in the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport before facing today Roma in the Champions League group stage with Chelsea, his current team. The striker was asked about his stage at Real Madrid and his words are very surprising.

According to the Spaniard, his second stage with Los Blancos was a mistake: “I should have never left Juventus. I came back because there were agreements signed and they had to be respected. But the delusion was huge, I came back to the starting point. They treated me as the child I was before my two seasons in Italy”, Morata said in this interview.

Morata tried to amend his words in the press conference before the game against Roma in the Champions League: “It was a translation mistake. I only tried to say that I was very happy at Juventus”, Morata said although he speaks really good Italian. “I’m very happy at Chelsea and if they had offered me ten years, I’d have signed. I’m very happy in this club, I like London a lot and if I’m doing well, I can stay longer than five years”.

The Spanish striker also explained why he chose Chelsea: “I came here because there was a coach like Antonio Conte. We started talking the last spring and finally I landed in London. He’s exigent, but he takes advantage better of the players skills. You can see he breathed the smell of a great club, first as a player and then as a coach”.

His first months in London are very positive: “There were some favourable circumstances. The first one is that I met the coach and I didn’t have any problem in integrating myself in his idea of football. The second one is the atmosphere and the presence of Spanish players like Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso, Fábregas or Pedro. And the third one is my wife, who came with me to London”.

Morata also spoke about the difference between the different leagues: “In Spain is more technique, in Italy is more tactics and now in England the most important thing is the physic strenght”.

Real Madrid lost their second game of the season at Girona and they are now eight points behind FC Barcelona in La Liga. Los Blancos have drawn two and lost two games in this start of the competition, where they had a theoretically easy calendar to start winning many points. Actually, Los Blancos lost five points against newly promoted teams -Levante and Girona- and five others at home -Valencia and Betis-.

If we compare this Real Madrid with the team that won La Liga, only Isco is showing a better level. At Montilivi was again the best one, trying to guide the team to the success. But Isco is not enough. Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have scored one goal in La Liga, so in this way it’s impossible to compete with the rivals.

Besides, when you look at the bench, the resources are not enough. Borja Mayoral did well when he had the chance, but obviously Zidane doesn’t trust him enough. Morata’s numbers last season were astonishing and this year Real Madrid are having a problem in the attacking line. Also Lucas Vázquez and Marco Asensio are not giving the extra when they came out of the bench. Yesterday they weren’t able to change a thing when Zidane called them. Asensio’s magic is draught after a good start of the season.

In the defense line the things are not better. Marcelo is struggling after his injury and Carvajal is out of the team. The right and left back were very important in Zidane’s formation, but they’re not causing any influence in the game. Yesterday even Nacho made mistakes, because both Girona goals were errors of the defenders. And we have to finish up with Kiko Casilla, who is not a guarantee when Keylor is injured.

The problem continues in the midfield. Although Modric, Kroos and Casemiro are not the worst, on Sunday they were lost on the pitch. It seemed they were still in London receiving The Best Award. The team is missing Kovacic, injured two months ago, and Dani Ceballos or Marcos Llorente are not having enough opportunities to give some rest to the stars in the midfield.

The result of these problems were a terrible game in Girona. There is enough time and resources to improve the way and comeback stronger, but there are many things to be improved.

Zinedine Zidane was very serious in the press conference after the game against Girona, where Los Blancos lost again and see FC Barcelona very far in the table.

According to Zidane, Los Blancos had a problem when they didn’t score the second goal: “We did well in the first half. Football are details. Their first goal was after a throw in and we weren’t focused. We don’t have to think twice. It wasn’t expected. In the first half we were well, in the second worse. We’re going to lift this up”.

The manager didn’t think the team played badly: “I don’t think we played badly. There was no lack of intensity. We made an effort, that’s why I’m bothered. It’s more about details of concentration. We didn’t get the three points, but everybody made an effort. […] Today we lost threes points. We are eight points behind, but nothing will change. We can lift this up, we’re going to have better days and the rivals will lose points”.

The coach doesn’t see a difference when the team plays in La Liga or in the Champions League: “I don’t see it differently. We’re not lazy when play La Liga, on the contrary. It’s our day a day. I don’t have this feeling. It’s true that we lost points again and it wasn’t expected after four victories. But the content and the attitude are untouched”.

Now the difference between Los Blancos and FC Barcelona are eight points: “Today I’m concerned because of the three points… or not killing the game. But I’m not worried to the lack of intensity or the attitude. These things are happening in La Liga. We’re going to keep with this job, because we’re doing that. I’m not concerned”.

Finally, Zidane spoke about their mistakes during the game: “My feeling is that we had chances to score the second goal. When you’re winning 0-1 at the half time you have to think that the rival can harm you. You have to be focused when the rival does it right, in this case the second plays, throw ins… We lack of concentration. After this we have to think in the next game. We know we’re going to lift this up. La Liga is very long and I’m not worried”.

Real Madrid lost in the first visit of the history to Girona (2-1). The local team made a came back in a really poor second half for Los Blancos. FC Barcelona are now 8 points ahead in La Liga and the title gets very, very complicated. Zidane has a lot of work because the team needs to improve in every line.

Zinedine Zidane introduced the best line-up possible with Achraf as a right back. However, the team didn’t work from the beginning. The first chance was for Girona, but Portu missed it after a mistake from Kiko Casilla, never at his best. Luckily, Real Madrid were the first to score thanks to Isco in the minute 12th. Far from improve the performance, Los Blancos didn’t arrive with danger and Gerona could draw in the minute 35th but Portu found the post.

The second half was even worst. In the 53rd minute, Stuani drew the game and the local team improve dramatically. Portu was able to score the second goal in offside in the 58th. In 5 minutes, Zidane’s team was losing a key game. Los Blancos were in shock and Stuani could even score the third one, but he missed it in front of Casilla. Zidane had to change a few things and he introduced Lucas and Asensio in the pitch.

Los Blancos tried hard in the last minute and even Lucas Vázquez scored in the 83rd minute after a great assist from Isco, but he was in offside and this time the referee whistled. Los Blancos tried the last 10 minutes but they weren’t accurate and couldn’t create any chances. We didn’t see Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema. Very bad day for the club in a really poor performance.

Real Madrid need to win in Girona to follow FC Barcelona in the table. This is the first time Los Blancos travel to Girona to play against the team because they were promoted to the First Division for the first time in their history in June. Zidane gave some rest to very important players of the squad in the game against Fuenlabrada in Copa del Rey, but all of them should be back to face Girona.

For this reason, you shouldn’t miss the game, so here you can find the instructions to watch Girona v Real Madrid in live streaming from your home. Los Blancos have won the last four games in La Liga, since they lost at home against Real Betis. It looks like the team is recovering the good feelings, but Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema should find the net easily if they don’t want to suffer in these kind of games.

Both strikers should be back in the line-up, together with Isco Alarcón. Carvajal, Gareth Bale and Mateo Kovacic are the only injury concerns for Zidane.

Girona v Real Madrid Prediction

Los Blancos are not playing great in this stage of the season, but at least they are winning the games easily. They kept a clean sheet in the last two games and we can expect the same at Montilivi because Girona had several problems to score a goal. Hopefully, Cristiano Ronaldo put an end to his bad numbers in La Liga, where he has scored only one goal so far.

These teams have never met before.

Real Madrid beat Fuenlabrada (0-2) in Copa del Rey in a boring game. At least, Los Blancos fulfilled the goal and they are just one step ahead of the next round of the competition.

Zinedine Zidane spoke after the game about the performance and he was quite happy about the match: “Clean sheet, we had patience and we found the goal. All the players made a great game and we’re satisfied”, the coach analyzed.

He also spoke about Jesús Vallejo, who made his debut with Los Blancos and saw the red card: “He cannot be happy although he did a serious game. These things happen, it’s a red card, but I’ll remember his game”.

Zinedine Zidane was also asked about the security of his trip to Girona after the circumstances around Catalonia and the possible independence: “We’re not worried. Nothing changes about the situation of the trip and the security will be the same. We’ll play as we always do, without thinking in other things. I’m not going to send any message. We’ll think in our game, we want to play football and we want to give a good show. They’ll put the security so nothing happens”.

The last time Zidane went to Fuenlabrada, he was training Castilla: “I thought I came back two years after playing with Castilla. I’m happy to enjoy what I’m doing. Now again facing Fuenlabrada and happy for the game. I lost once and today we won”.

Finally, Zidane analyzed Fuenlabrada: “I don’t remember very well the game of two years ago. What it’s pretty clear is that today they are a good team. They are in the second place in the league and they are a good team. The first half was 0-0, so this means they did great and we found the space with patience”.

Real Madrid beat Fuenlabrada (0-2) away in the first leg of the Last 32 round of Copa del Rey in the derby against a rival from the third division of the Spanish football. Los Blancos played quite bad, but the quality allowed them to get a good result to go through the next stage in this competition.

Zinedine Zidane left Cristiano Ronaldo, Modric or Sergio Ramos at home and he introduced an unsual line-up, with a lot of youngsters. Jesús Vallejo made his debut with Real Madrid, whereas Ceballos, Achraf, Llorente or Mayoral could enjoy some minutes with the white t-shirt. However, these players didn’t take the opportunity as they played a bad game against a team with less quality.

If you remember, last season Real Madrid thrashed (1-7) Cultural Leonesa in this stage of the competition. We could see Asensio, Morata or James in that line-up, full of quality, and able to win many games in La Liga. Perhaps this season the substitutes don’t have this quality, or at least didn’t show it against Fuenlabrada.

In the first half nothing happened. Los Blancos didn’t arrive with danger to Codina’s goal and they were unable to score any goal. Asensio was disappeared and Real Madrid didn’t look a great team. Luckily, the performance improved in the second half and the referee whistled a penalty thanks to Achraf Hakimi, again having minutes as a right back. Asensio didn’t miss it and opened the scoreboard. Just some minutes later, Mayoral could score with a header but Codina saved it.

The tie was over when the referee whistled another penalty, this time with Theo Hernández as a protagonist. Lucas Vázquez took the ball and scored the second goal. The game also left us the red card showed to Jesús Vallejo. Not the best debut ever with the white t-shirt. These players must improve their performances if they want to enjoy more minutes in La Liga.

Real Madrid will face Girona on Sunday in the 11th game of La Liga. Los Blancos will travel to Catalonia in the middle of an unusual political situation, because the president of this Region might declare the independence on Friday, with all the unknown consequences that this might create.

Real Madrid want to travel on Saturday, rest that night in a hotel in the city centre of Gerona and then play the game on Sunday. Actually, this hotel is being already controlled by the police to guarantee the safety of the squad. This is because many people think that there is a risk in this trip, given the political circumstances.

Gerona is the hometown of the current president of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, who might declare the independence on Friday. This will open an unknown scenery in Spain because the central government won’t allow it, and this might cause some demonstrations in the street.

Real Madrid have never been very welcomed to Catalonia, but Gerona is the city with more people in favour of the independence. And this will be the first time Los Blancos visit the city, so we should expect a special welcome from the supporters.

The club is thinking about not using the traditional white bus with the Real Madrid badge, because they don’t want to call the attention. The police is also working to avoid any incident but no knows how will be the atmosphere on Sunday in Catalonia.

“No one should doubt that Montilivi will respect the rival, as we’ve always done. Sunday it will be a party”, Pablo Machín, Girona coach, said in press conference.

Real Madrid are also trying to avoid polemics. Emilio Butragueño said: “We are going to play a game with the idea of winning. We are a football club and we speak about football”, the director said, although FC Barcelona is also a football club and they speak constantly about politics.

Zinedine Zidane was also asked about this in press conference before facing Fuenlabrada in the Copa del Rey: “We are going to play a football match, we are going to have the security as always. We are going to think only in preparing the game as always and we are not going to think in what could happen in a football game”.

Zinedine Zidane will give some rest to some important players of the squad today, when Real Madrid make their season debut in the Copa del Rey, the only title missing in the coach track records. Los Blancos face Fuenlabrada, a club from the third division -Segunda B-, so the youngsters should be able to get a good result in this derby.

Last season, Zidane trusted a lot in the players on the bench. They were able to lead the team in the Copa del Rey and in many games in La Liga. As a result, Los Blancos were able to win La Liga and arrive with a great physical status to the end of the season, shining in the second half of the Champions League final.

Marco Asensio, Álvaro Morata, James Rodríguez, Lucas Vázquez, Isco Alarcón or Nacho Fernández made great performances in these kind of games, earning the possibility of playing the big games. For instance, Isco or Nacho started to play in the line-up in important games, thanks to their output in these games.

This season, Zidane will follow the same strategy. We already saw some changes in the game against Eibar, with Ceballos or Theo Hernández in the line-up. But today we should see all the players that have to fight for more minutes in La Liga. For instance, Borja Mayoral, Dani Ceballos, Marcos Llorente or Jesús Vallejo are ready to enjoy 90 minutes with the Real Madrid t-shirt.

Jesús Vallejo will make his debut with Real Madrid. He was signed three two years ago, but he went on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt. After that, he got injured, so he’s missed the start of this season, but finally he will be able to show his great quality.

Other players like Dani Ceballos, Borja Mayoral or Marcos Llorente are not having many minutes in the start of the season. Ceballos scored two goals in the victory against Alavés and every time he’s got the chance, he’s played very well. Mayoral also scored against Real Sociedad away, but since then he hasn’t had many opportunities. And Marcos Llorente is Casemiro’s substitute, a very difficult role in a team like Real Madrid.
