After missing the last training sessions with Real Madrid and the game against Espanyol, Bale travelled to Cardiff to join his national team. Zidane said that Bale was not injured, so he should have been able to play against Georgia and Ireland, both key games for Wales, who is seeking to participate in their first World Cup.

However, Bale cannot help his teammates to achieve this goal. He will miss both games because he left the concentration today after training softly on Monday. According to Sky Sports, Bale suffers some problems in the calf, the muscle that is giving him a lot of pain. Now, he should be back to Spain to get the medical test and evaluate the injury.

It’s very difficult to be optimistic regarding Bale’s situation. His performances were very poor in the start of the season and he had to face several criticism. He improved in the last few games, especially against Borussia Dortmund or the great goal scored at Anoeta, but the injuries are preventing him to show a great level.

If Bale had already problems to keep his place in the line-up when everybody is available, now it will be very difficult to claim a spot in the team. With Benzema ready to come back against Getafe, Isco and Asensio are showing a better level than the Welshman and, especially, they don’t have physical problems, so they give everything on the pitch. Perhaps, it was a great mistake not selling him this summer and getting Mbappé instead.

Achraf Hakimi made history yesterday with Real Madrid. He became the first Moroccan footballer to play with Los Blancos an official game in La Liga. Before, they played two Spanish footballers born in the African country: Heliodoro Castaño (1955-58) and José Luis Peinado, Pepegoles (1964-76).

Danilo’s departure opened the possibility for Achraf Hakimi to participate in the squad. Dani Carvajal got injured after playing all the games in the start of the season and he needed to have some rest. Actually, he’s not even going with the Spanish national team. Nacho, the other player who could play as a right back, had to play on the left because Theo and Marcelo were injured. So the only option Zidane had was Achraf. And he played a great game.

Achraf didn’t suffer and he defended his right side successfully. Although he’s usually very offensive, this time he tried to defend more. However, we could see a great dribbling in the 13th minute but he’s cross wasn’t perfect. He was the third player with more balls stolen, only after Sergio Ramos and Casemiro.

“Achraf was so concentrated that we didn’t have the feeling that this was his first game. He did it great”, Zidane said in press conference after the game. “If Dani is not with us, Achraf is the second right back and he’s going to play”, the manager confessed.

Achraf was very happy after the game: “This is a day I will never forget”, he said. “I’m going step by step and I’ll give the best minutes”, the player announced after the game.

Achraf is a son of immigrants and he arrived to Getafe when he was very little. However, Achraf joined Real Madrid soon after and he’s been working with La Fábrica since he was very little. Now he has accomplished his dream to make the debut with Real Madrid but the path is very long.

Zinedine Zidane was happy after the victory against Espanyol (2-0) at home. It was the first time Los Blancos got the three points in La Liga at Santiago Bernabéu.

The manager is not very pleased with rivals that come to the stadium to defend: “We like when the teams come here more open because we find spaces. We got this victory today, it’s not whether I like it or not. We play against the rival we have”.

Zizou liked the way the started the game: “We entered very well in the game. The first half we came in in the dressing room with 1-0 and we always had patience. It was a good first half. The idea was that the attacking people could combine between themselves. We can be happy. The most important thing was to get the three points at home”.

The most important player in the squad was Isco, who scored both goals: “He knows he is an important player. He plays like in the street and I like it. He’s not concerned if the things don’t go well and he’s patient. Lately, he’s comfortable at home and I’m happy to see a better Isco”.

The coach also spoke about Bale and why he wasn’t included in the list: “He’s fine. He played a lot at the start of the season and after the effort at Dortmund, he was tired. But it’s not an injury, I speak with the players and the doctors”.

According to Zizou, this championship is going to be even tougher than the previous one: “I think this title is not going to be a thing for two or three teams. Obviously, this is the championship more complicated in the world but this is good for the show. We are going to have very difficult games. I prefer to play against rival that come to play their game”.

Real Madrid were controlling totally the game, putting Espanyol in the box. After many minutes trying to score the first one, the goal finally arrived in the 30th minute with a goal scored by Isco. After the first goal, Cristiano could score the second but he missed it again. Real Madrid got relaxed and Espanyol could draw in the 43rd minute but Gerard hit the bar.

Espanyol reacted in the second half and they started to arrive to Keylor Navas’ goal. Real Madrid were again risking to concede another goal and lose the points. Besides, they didn’t create any danger. However, in a counter attack Isco could score again and close the game. Again Isco was the best player in the pitch, not only for the goals, but also for the way of playing.

It was a better game at home but not great and Real Madrid could suffer again at home. They need to wrap the game earlier in the future if they don’t want to suffer that much.
